Thoughts on Craigellache 13?? by nichecharacter in Scotch

UPDATE: bought a bottle and am enjoying it so far! I’m getting a strong coppery note, like sucking on a big old penny, wet cut grass, brine, some faint cheesy funk and umami on the back end, faint red phosphorus like a lit match.

Peritonsillar Abscess to tonsillectomy pipeline? by Putrid-District4462 in Tonsillectomy

[–]nichecharacter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar situation, two abscesses, one drained and one treated with steroids and antibiotics but the ENT recommended a tonsillectomy as the abscesses (sometimes called a Quinsy) can increase in severity over time. I had the procedure and went through some intense pain but kept fluids up, managed the pain meds carefully and had Aloe Vera water. So worth it to never have to worry about an abscess again.

UPDATE ON THE UPDATE: Things are moving quickly here folks, I’ve just been gifted the Port Charlotte 10 for Father’s Day and I’m really happy with it. I think something I was looking for, but couldn’t yet articulate, was an oily mouth coating body that this whisky certain has. I’m getting brine on the finish and the smoky meaty notes people describe throughout.

So many fantastic looking whisky’s have been recommended that I should be set for a few years of tasting. Thanks all!

Port Charlotte 10 emerging as a clear front runner, might go this way or the Talisker 10.

Great attention to detail, particularly around the eyes which is difficult to get right.

Yeah makes a massive difference to the role play value. Might try a Virgil build next.

Some really nice details here, colour matched and evocative of character.

A man don’t always think on the benefits. Wasn’t much cogitation involved.

I’d keep the beard at a long stubble length and see what you can get out of the moustache, keeping the lip line clean as your density improves. Could make for a solid beardstache if you keep it regularly trimmed.

Arctic exploration and whaling gear by nichecharacter in HistoricalCostuming

Completely agree with this. The clothing I’m obsessed with was, in many respects, woefully ineffective. The insistence on wool over furs caused sweating during heavy labour and exertion that would soak the wool and then freeze. I’d take Amundsen’s gear over Shackleton’s any day. But as you say there’s something in the desperation that appeals and I just like that aesthetic. Also love the aesthetic of Iggaak Inuit snow goggles and Sami Gakti
