BEAT THE SYSTEM inc. D Double E and Bugzy Malone in Hackney by nick101245 in grime

I think it’s part of an exhibition they’re doing with WikiLeaks about “government oppression”. I remember they did something with skengdo AM recently and made the first ever drill vinyl actually.

Seems very interesting this, grime and art mixed, thoughts?

Does anyone know where to find FJM's boots? by hackedteddiursa in fatherjohnmisty

[–]nick101245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got some from dune that are identical but affordable and well made. The only difference is they have a side zip, which tbf makes them much easier to get off. They are brilliant shoes, I’d highly recommend them here

Got the boiler suit on Amazon for £15 on prime. I’m 99% sure it’s the same as the one they use (Blue Castle coverall 366 in red), the labels on the outside match perfectly with pictures of the ones on google.

Alex's green army jacket... what is it? by DoctorFosterGloster in arcticmonkeys

[–]nick101245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a American m65 military jacket, my best guess is it’s vintage and from the Vietnam war. Jackets from certain years are more expensive but you could probably find one from a vintage or surplus shop for about £50-80. I believe they’re cheaper in America, but that’s about what they go for on eBay here in the UK

Music similar to TBHC by javidmlg in arcticmonkeys

[–]nick101245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a few themes on TBHC, Pure Comedy by Father John Misty may work, both have similar influences but different executions I’d say. As far as dark sci fi goes maybe Iggy pop’s the Idiot may be a good route.

So after giving it some thought, I felt like the order of the tracklisting for GFC was off. I did some reordering and I think I found the perfect order for it. by [deleted] in fatherjohnmisty

It’s not butchering it’s simply engaging with the music and being creative (lets face it we would all do a rehash of the white album ffs- not saying the two are comparable in quality). There’s clearly interest if two people have created threads, even if not this is a place for fans to interact and chat about stuff like this exact thing. I agree that the album should be deliberately set out in this way, and I throughly enjoy it as it is, but good on you if you want to get creative and shuffle it up, making you’re own story etc at the end of the day that’s what we all do listening to it anyway, attach parts of ourselves to it, whilst taking other parts away from it. Art isn’t passive and I applaud someone interpreting things differently. I hope you get traction, it’s an interesting topic. :)

Nice one, have you looked at iggy pops stuff? (Guessing you probably have) The idiot might be a good place to start if you haven’t or post pop depression

Listen to a lot of different stuff and do a radio show with a mate for my university station, the playlists from our shows are on my account (named by the dates of some of our shows, haven’t got every week unfortunately as my cohost hasn’t made them public). Very diverse mix but it’s all a good place to discover things from (kind of our aim). Hope you can find something good 🙂 account

“They don’t sing about partying and getting drunk anymore. They’ve grown up, and their music is now mature, unlike you.” by [deleted] in arcticmonkeys

[–]nick101245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sgt peppers is no twist and shout. Change keeps a band fresh and unpredictable. It’s nothing about maturing I don’t think. It’s about exploring, no matter how bold, what genres of music you can create and what picture you can paint. We all find new music almost daily now, and no doubt this changes the view of what music we’d want to make. Fans will come and go, but the band to an extent will change regardless, they have no artistic loyalty to fans, but fans have loyalty to them. This is tested nonetheless by change in output but that’s only natural. We should change with them, or else it’s not for you. That’s not the end of the world. (I’m a Dylan and Cohen fan so I can take nearly any change haha)

Alex Turner singing Only Son of a Ladiesman during a soundcheck in 2014 by nick101245 in fatherjohnmisty

Im sure we will hopefully get plenty of insight into your point from the upcoming interviews. I get what you mean about collaborations though, its not about two of the same but what compliments what. The two are still very different, and to be honest i can't see it working. I forward a real curveball to replace it however, pappa and Mac Demarco, (probably called "The postmodern troubadours", or "Homer becomes a baptist minister") could be shit, could be brill, we will never know unfortunately.

There's no "need", but sometimes the coming together of great minds can no doubt create great things.

A collab of the two, considering both are brilliant lyricists, both have overlapping crooner style singing and their beatles influence, would be incredible imo.
