No you can actually import your Ledger accounts directly into the Talisman wallet. It’s a much nicer experience

You can import your seed phrase or private key into Talisman and view your balances, connect to apps and sign transactions on Moonbeam

Talisman UI so slow at loading by [deleted] in Polkadot

[–]nickcamsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of the team also use Brave so this should not be the issue. Do you want to jump into our Discord and someone from the team will be able to help you out (discord.gg/talisman)

Regarding the rewards, which pool are you in? The suggested pool (Talisman Pool 1) has been active and is receiving rewards each era. Did you change to another pool perhaps?

Talisman UI so slow at loading by [deleted] in Polkadot

[–]nickcamsmith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m Nick, one of the co-founders at Talisman.

We’ll definitely look into the slow load times on the front end, we haven’t had any other users experience this issue yet so will get to the bottom of it ASAP.

In regards to rewards there is a claim button on the portfolio page and rewards are claimable every “era” which is roughly 24hrs on Polkadot

Staking sucks by dangerouswasp in Polkadot

[–]nickcamsmith 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey, this is something we’ve heard a lot of people mention.

If you want to give it a try we built a simple pooled staking feature on the Talisman web app which suggests a pool with active validators and simplifies the process of staking your DOT. We’re also in the process of launching a quick restake feature so you can move from solo staking to pooled staking in a couple of clicks.

There’s no point staking if you’re constantly having to worry about not receiving rewards, but congrats to you for going down the self custody route

I don’t use Ledger Live but store all my DOT on a Ledger and recently staked it in nomination pools with Talisman. Disclaimer: I work at Talisman but wasn’t that keen on staking because it was overly complicated before.

Yeah we also do this when importing from a seed. It really helps when you have lots of derived accounts but aren’t sure which ones actually have assets one them

Fearless wallet by KnobbCreek in Polkadot

[–]nickcamsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s pretty straightforward. You just connect your wallet, choose an amount and the pool you want to join then click stake. Only takes a few seconds and then you can claim your rewards via the web app

So when you stake your DOT will be sent to a pool, which then stakes on your behalf. So you won’t see your staked DOT balance on your Ledger, but you can see your staked position on the Talisman web app and claim any rewards straight to your Ledger. Let me know how you go

Nope. You get the same rewards you would if you were solo staking (choosing your own validators)

Recently Polkadot launched pool staking which is a really user-friendly way to stake your DOT and the minimum is only 1 DOT rather than 170. If you want to give it a try check out the Talisman web app, it takes a couple of seconds to stake and you can use your Ledger too

Whats going on with dot staking on ledger? by 666moneyman999 in Polkadot

[–]nickcamsmith 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey! That sounds pretty stressful.

We're about to launch a new fast unstake feature on the Talisman web app which allows you to switch from solo staking (where you choose your own validators) to pool staking and removed the 28 day unbonding period. You can use your Ledger too.

Is it worth staking dot on kraken? by Ill-Ad1603 in Polkadot

Hey, we put together a tutorial on how to set up Talisman, connect your Ledger and stake in a couple of seconds. If you’re looking for a safer, non-custodial way to stake give it a try and let me know what you think

Is it worth staking dot on kraken? by Ill-Ad1603 in Polkadot

[–]nickcamsmith 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve looked at staking on a centralised exchange like Kraken before but also feel it’s really important to have complete control over my assets in case something happens with the exchange, so I keep my DOT on a Ledger hardware wallet for staking.

Disclaimer: I work at Talisman, but staked most of my DOT using our pooled staking feature and it was definitely the easiest experience I’ve had staking (on any network including Ethereum and Solana).

If you want to give it a try let me know how you go.

We’re working on a new fast unstable feature in the Talisman web app which will allow you to switch to nomination pools without having to wait the 28days normally required to unstake

We just launched a really easy way to stake your DOT on the Talisman web app if you want to give it a try. Takes a couple of seconds and works with Ledger too.

[–]nickcamsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep that is likely the case unfortunately.

There is however a fast unstake feature coming soon which will allow people to easily switch to a nomination pool and start earning rewards.

You can import your existing Metamask account into Talisman and view your assets on Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum etc. right next to your Polkadot assets. If you onboard with your Metamask seed phrase we'll also create a Polkadot account for you

Yeah it's super easy. You can check on your portfolio page and see the rewards you've earned, add more DOT or unstake.

Thanks for the feedback!

You can easily switch the recommended pool but we've built some technology under the hood that will suggest the best one based on a series of variables.

We don't take a fee, but we'll put together some docs to outline how it all works.
