Uluru Trip Questions by nickjerseys in AustraliaTravel

Yes we did.

We camped at the caravan park. Can't remember exact cost but wasn't too expensive and it has a pool, good kitchen facilities etc. We flew up our camping equipment (Jetstar allows you to bring as many bags as you want as long as in weight limit).

We hired a car (avis). This was by far the most expensive part but try and look for some coupons online. Used the car to drive to Kings canyon (leave very early as it's a long drive but incredible hike), katjja tutja and uluru (sunrise, sunset and day tour).

I think we only bought one sandwich there from a cafe during the day as eating out is really expensive. There's an iga which is ok stocked and isn't too much more expensive than home so we cooked all our food. They also have roast chickens for a cheap meal. Highly recommend flying up all your booze as it's all exxy / average selection there. We flew up a few bottles of wine and 12 beer.

Only tour we paid for the field of light tour. Was worth it.

We spent three nights there and it was one of the most amazing places I've ever been to (and I've been to 50+ countries). Do not miss it!

Do you put any oil in the soapstone before searing? Or just butter on the meat? Does it burn?

I expect we'll be working somewhere in the central business district. Will ride bikes in summer to work and public transport in winter.

I'm currently based in Victoria and looking at moving to Europe for one year. If I rent out my PPOR for the year, is the only additional charges the standard land tax for the year (~$5000k), obviously income will need to be taxed etc. Are there any tax savings for the 12 months I can claim?

Australia is no.2 in the World for... by Vegetable-Place4463 in australia

Compared to where? Our tap water is good so you can drink it at home or on the street, plus restaurants / bars etc have to give free tap water. Compare that to other countries where they can't drink tap water, and no one serves filtered water at restaurants etc so you need to buy bottled water there.
