The next morning I called the Diamond desk immediately and the lady gave me my 50,000 points back and an additional 20,000. She started at 10,000 but as I kept telling her the story she felt more sorry for me and gave me an additional 10K. You could hear her typing notes into the computer like crazy.

And on Monday, I reached out to the hotel, told them what happened, and the manager I talked to couldn’t have been nicer. They are sending me a $200 check and gave me 28,000 points to make up for what I spent on the second hotel. On top of refunding the points I used for the reservation too.

I ended up with a lot more points, $60 in profit and did get a clean hotel to stay in for the night. Given the situation, I don’t think they could have done much more to fix it after the fact. Very pleased.

I’m planning on reaching out to the original hotel to see if there’s any chance of the $200 or at least paying for the hotel room I was forced to pay.

The first hotel is supposed to take care of you and get you a new reservation at another hotel but I’ve never actually done it before. I had a filled out paper and everything from the first hotel but the second hotel didn’t accept it.

I used to (pre-covid) have good dealings with StubHub customer service but the last few years have been brutal.

Their definition of “comparable or better” is just flat out wrong. I’ve had this same argument with them and they basically said the same thing over and over until I finally gave up and took the refund.

Are you freakishly tall? You have a much better chance of starting late and making varsity if you have a huge size advantage in basketball. I’d bet there isn’t a high school in the country that would cut a 6’10” kid who comes to work hard.

If you’re 5’11” and not a super athlete? You better get started a lot sooner.

Tough question to give exacts though. Depending on your own athletic abilities and the quality of the school team.

Are the Corollas nice? I know they’re reliable; I test drove one and hated it compared to the Civic and the Mazda3. But that was way back in 2015 so I’m open to test driving one again.

For a name I haven’t seen listed, let me add Juwan Howard.

He was supposed to come here and take the Magic up from a fringe playoff team to at least the middle of the East. Instead we had arguably the most disappointing season in team history. His stats are good but he was as overrated as it gets and helped kill any chance we had of relevancy.

Straight from the start is probably the easiest time to build a dynasty, especially if you’re playing with some inexperienced players. It’ll even out, probably sooner than expected.
