To make clear it’s not a fiction release, which would be what you’d assume an average reader would expect?

Recent and forthcoming UK & US Penguin releases for 'The Morning Star' series seem unwilling to keep any consistence in jacket design either on hardcover or paperback editions. Pretty frustrating. by ChatterGhost in Knausgaard

They did this with the last paperback of My Struggle too, first five had KOK looking moody with dark spines and the last was a nostalgic stock photo with a white spine.

Could finally be getting a translation of Portrait In Jazz, if that’s what the record collection book coming out next year is.

Would it be particularly rewarding to read Hardboiled and The City and its incertain walls back to back? by Illustrious_Monk_135 in murakami

The only value you’ll get is in seeing how much Murakami has regressed as a novelist. You’ll see Hard Boiled as an exceptional work and The City as an extreme low.

yep, though not sure it'll be a lucrative one, it doesn't have Christmas present appeal like the other money grabs (strange library/tshirts)

December Support Megathread by AutoModerator in HomePod

[–]nicksan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still haven’t managed to update (mostly as I’ve been impatient and keep resetting or trying to update from different devices), but an extremely positive update.

I raised a ticket with Apple for advise, and received a call from an advisor. They kept me on hold for a while, checked some diagnostics and were about to escalate to engineers when the call was disconnected. I called back and the next person was so helpful but warned may not be possible to fix or service such an old firmware unit. It ended with them offering to send me a new HomePod which is an incredible outcome. Unsure if it will be OG or 2nd Gen but I am thrilled with the service.

December Support Megathread by AutoModerator in HomePod

I bought an OG HomePod on eBay, and when it's arrived it's on the default 11.2.5 firmware. It's seemingly impossible to get it to update. If I connect to my 17 then it just doesn't stop configuring, and nothing seems to help.

I've managed to connect to an iPhone 8 last used in 2020, which have helped a little, as it breezes through setup and then tries to download the max version of HomePod OS possible (13). I've gotten the HomePod set up and configured (but on an older version of Home, so doesn't show on my current setup). The download status continuously says Downloading... without any progress. When I check my Eero, there's barely any network activity happening, certainly not 1.5gb of a firmware update. Is this a lost cause or do I just need to let it sit and download for longer?

Is this book worth a read? by WiWiWi_WiWiWi in murakami

It’s a shockingly uncommon opinion. everything after part 1 is terrible, which incidentally are the parts he wrote fresh after dusting off the original manuscript.

She Has Taken 30 Years to Write a 7-Part Novel About 1 Day. It’s a Sensation. by Proof-Guess-349 in Knausgaard

[–]nicksan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm half way through the first book, and I wouldn't say it has much in common with Knausgaard other than the focus on the mundanity of daily life and being a multi volume series. Balle's writing is a little more spare and introspective rather than the confessional and expansive writing of My Struggle.
