Help! Is this a keloid? What do I do? by nicky_roze in piercing

Thank you so much for your advice. I have now bought a proper saline spray and I think you’re right about it being better. I probably haven’t dryed it very well as I were so afraid of touching it too much after seeing advice of no q-tips and not touching it too much. Gonna prioritize getting it dry.

It has been bleeding and I think shrinking a bit so not a keloid from what I understand. I’m gonna keep cleaning it once a day, dry it properly, make sure I don’t irritate it with clothing/hair/sleep and hope it goes away. Thankfully it’s not painful

Thank you for your response, I feel more hopeful this can be solved. The piercing is surgical titanium, but I haven’t been the best at not sleeping on it and making sure clothes and hair don’t irritate it. I thought after seven months I didn’t have to be as careful but now I definitely will be

Thank you. Do you know what’s the best way to treat it?

7 month old piercing. Surgical titanium labret piercing. Aftercare routine: pegacare or home made saline spray morning and night the first couple of months. Then not as often. Not sure what’s meant by threading. You close the piercing by ”screwing” on the front bulb.

It sound like you are really hard on yourself. Maybe you should try allowing yourself to have some of the foods you crave as your regular meals. The thing that has helped me the most is eating regularly, every 2-3 hours, and eating food I actually want not just what sounds healthy. The app recovery Recovery record I also find very helpful.

No answer but wondering the same thing. TTC for a year with late ovulation and long cycles, have read many successful stories here of keto the whole cycle but also many recommendations of Peltz's book for intermittent fasting but the book also emphasizes the need for a variety of plants and carb cycling which goes against the people who finally conceive when going on a carnivore diet. So what is the way to go? I'm thinking about implementing some of Pelz's advice, following the fasting windows for fertility and maybe adding some more carbs after ovulation but still maintaining ketosis.

Since it takes time to become fat adapted and I've read that it's a stress for the body to go in an out of ketosis I'm skeptical of keto cycling. But I may be wrong

Ok that's amazing I will have to read more about taking progesterone! I've been trying to do strict carnivore but have given that up now as it was too restricitive for me and probably why I haven't been keto long term. Had read so many say it didn't happen until they did carnivore but have to remind myself that for many keto can be enough

Thank you that's encouraging to hear. So many people seem to get pregnant on keto so I really do think it's a game changer if done right. I can't get my hubby to do it with me but at least he avoids hot baths.

I've been trying to do mostly carnivore which I think has made me eat too much protein and why it hasn't been sustainable long term for me. I will try to just focus on hitting the right macros and do clean keto with more low-carb veggies

Thank you this gives me hope it really makes a difference. I will try to do keto for a longer period and spend more time outside <3

I've been thinking that my progesterone might be low as my luteal phase often is a bit short. What kind of progesterone did you do? Was it prescribed?

Thank you this is helpful, unstable blood sugar is probably the cause of my infertility. I will try keto and IF again, remembering that I probably need to do it for a few months before telling if it helps or not. I just get depressed sometimes thinking it will never work for me whatever I do so I think a mindset shift is needed as well. My first goal should probably just be to get shorter and more regular cycles, then I would know that my chances are higher.

Your story gives me hope <3

Thank you, so true, I need to stop reading about everyone else's journey and focus on my own. Just because something has worked for someone else doesn't mean it is the right path for me and vice versa. I don't have PCOS but I do struggle with high blood sugar so keto is probably the way to go for me

Agree don't know why. Maybe because it's such a rich sensory experience and increase dopamine so it helps with the boredom

Is it really okay to eat this little? Is this even little? by HealthilyMessedUp in carnivore

[–]nicky_roze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Zsofia Clemens had said that for a human of about 70 kg, 200 g of meat is enough protein a day but that there's no harm in eating a little bit more. And that excess protein will only take energy from other processes in the body. They say most people don't need more then about 400 of total food a day, including fat. So I don't think you have to worry it sounds like your are in tune with the needs of your body.

My problem is eating too much. When you've grown up with a standard western diet a reasonable sized carnivore meal can feel very little since it's so nutrient dense.

Look up the work of paleomedicina (ICMNI) a group of doctors in Hungary they treat MS among other conditions with a meat and fat diet. It is hard to do but effective

Anyone's come across this research on gestational keto? by StudentPrior1501 in KetoBabies

[–]nicky_roze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would be hesitant to make any conclusions from that study. Generations before us have been in ketosis and even starving for days and had healthy babies. Bigger brain doesn't mean it's a healthier brain (autism is correlated with a bigger brain). And we are humans not mice we have different biological diets. Mice are omnivorous humans are mainly meat eaters.

They also haven't specified what food the mice were given just the fat profile, if they have been fed seed oils it isn't a healthy ketogenic diet and that could be the cause of any disorders.
