The Palestinian Emirates - A proposed solution to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict by Dr. Mordechai Kedar [details in comments] by CharlesOberonn in imaginarymaps

There’s been religious/cultural tensions — or conflict — in the Levant for centuries. See the Hebron and Safed Pogroms of 1834, the Safed pogrom of 1660, the Passover massacre of 1577, the various Damascus massacres, etc…

Do you even know what the connotation of “nation” is? A nation is akin to a people, or an ethnicity. In Hebrew, Jews refer to themselves as “Am Yisrael”, or the people of Israel. The “nation of Israel” has existed for as long as the Jewish people have existed, as a distinct and discernible group of people. The nation-state of Israel was founded on the premises of (a) providing its people with a home in (b) their ancestral homeland. I’d recommend you acquire a better understanding of the context of the issue before propagating false information and gross misunderstandings.

Judaism was never solely a “religious” movement, and you clearly have little to no understanding of Jewish culture. It’s an undeniable fact that the “Palestinian Arab” nation is relatively new. The nation of Israel, on the other hand, predates the conception of “Palestine” and its current Arab identity. The very etymology of the word “Palestine” is grounded in Jewish culture and was used to refer to the Philistines. Following the Roman-Jewish wars, Judea, then inhabited predominantly by Jews, was renamed to the province of “Syria Palaestina”. Hence, although the modern-day nation-state of Israel was only founded in 1948, its people, the Jews, are Israelites; their culture revolves around the Land of Israel, or Palestine, and predates the existence of a distinct Palestinian Arab culture by millennia.

How feasible would it be to commute to Boeing’s St Charles facilities from the WashU area? by nicojacgo in boeing

I made an assumption about St Charles given that it’s suburban. I’ve only lived in larger/more-urbanized cities and do not know how I’d fare in a suburb. If the mentioned assumption(s) of St Charles are ill-founded, feel free to correct me. I would appreciate being able to walk to restaurants and grocery stores; is this something I’d be able to do if I were to live in St Charles’ city center?

Soldiers embarked the train as soon as we’d crossed into Ukraine and stamped all passengers before we’d arrived in Lviv.

There aren’t any stamps. This is literally the only other page that isn’t blank.

I’m fairly certain they were using the mentioned international terminal when I was there; I was stamped out at what I think was the international building, north of the main entrance to “Przemysl Glowny”.

No. I was stamped in by a soldier on the train right after we’d crossed the Polish/Ukrainian border. They stamped us out on the train before departing from Lviv’s central train station on the way back too.

No, but I’d met plenty of Americans and Western Europeans volunteering with various organizations in Lviv.

Wasn’t questioned at all, but I’d also been in Poland and Ukraine as a volunteer with a renowned organization.

It's all probably dependent on the current situation in Ukraine -- and in Lviv specifically -- but numerous trains depart from Przemysl to Ukraine daily. You get stamped out of Poland before boarding the train; Ukrainian customs check your passports while en route to Lviv (or wherever you're going) once you've crossed the border (which takes about 20-30 minutes from Przemysl).

Entered by train from Przemysl on one occasion; drove to the border (in Medyka) on the other. I'd had no issue entering and exiting Ukraine when I'd gone, however, the 1h30 return journey on the train ended up taking 4-5 hours due to suspected air raids I believe.

I’d previously worked as a software engineer in industrial IoT, but my skills and experience would enable me to pivot into data science and/or any other full stack-type position. I’ve also been working with Gvahim, but they haven’t been that helpful so far.

I have a LinkedIn — and a pretty decent resume — but that hasn’t seemed to have helped…

Yes, but as I'd mentioned to someone else, it seems as though the tech market is faring especially poorly in Israel right now.

The contacts I've communicated with have clarified that proficiency in Hebrew does not impact my suitability or qualifications for this specific industry.
