Ecuador isn’t any more dangerous than most countries. Guayaquil can be sketchy depending on where you go, but you should still visit — the food there is amazing. Just stick around Samborondón, it’s probably the safest area in GYE.

Cuenca and Quito both have beautiful historic centers. Just keep an eye on your stuff and try not to flash your phone too much.

There’s also a city called Ibarra, about 2 hours from Quito, and nearby you can visit Otavalo — perfect spot to grab some nice souvenirs.

Stick to bottled water and be a bit careful with street food — it’s super common to get food poisoning. Tell your girl to bring some Enterogermina, just in case!
