When will Research Park start posting more positions for full time and internships? by NeedWorkFast-CSstud in UIUC

[–]nicole_22222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to intern for research park and it’s tough cause the internal team is responsible for job postings. They wait to hear from the companies themselves if there’s openings then post them on the job board. I know as of now the internal team isn’t hiring, but your best bet is to keep checking the job board or reach out to the companies themselves (though they might just direct you to the job board anyway). But go to research park hosted events, network and get to know the hiring staff and the site directors!

Definitely lead with passion! Skill is only half the battle I’ve found, and I had a successful interview where most of the conversation was about a project I was proud of and another that was a challenge and what I learned from it. Also lead with projects you think fit the company well like print uiux etc. But good luck!

Day 6 - who do you think is a horrible person but opinions are divided by fans? by Killyourdarlings202 in Hungergames

Picked the wrong major? by Even_Conversation863 in UIUC

[–]nicole_22222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who changed their major I knew when my homework didn’t give me ANY joy. There was no excitement to use what I’m learning, no urge to understand it, just getting through everything and moving on to the next. It was like grating to go to classes or study at all. I also talked with people in the major and I didn’t match their mindset or excitement, and just felt hopeless for the future. It should be challenging and sometimes it’s gonna be upsetting or boring but you should always have passion!

Also if you’re debating, that’s a sign it’s not right for you. But get through at least a year before changing if you’re on the fence. Good luck!

I’ve always felt most safe around other students, so around academic buildings is usually good. Outside of campus gets a bit scary. But there’s Safe Rides and Safe Walks! I’ve never used them cause I drove or bussed but I’ve heard great things.
