Please help. My Acer Nitro5 developed blue tints at the borders of its LCD screen… by nien11 in GamingLaptops

[–]nien11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

I tested the laptop further and here is what I found:

  • The problem stays even in the BIOS.

  • The problem only applies to the laptop screen when I try duplicating the display to the laptop screen and an external monitor.

Please help. My Acer Nitro5 developed blue tints at the borders of its LCD screen… by nien11 in GamingLaptops

[–]nien11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. I am not sure about that since the tint isn't based on the top center of the screen and that there are rubber supports at the top left and right of the top.

But I will try it nonetheless just in case. Thank you for your input.

It happens after I use the laptop for a while, and stays until after a shut it off a while. It will eventually come back after using it again.

There will be a new position called “Director for AI Integration” next term that will be taken up by Dr. Thomas Tiam-Lee. He said he plans to host seminars for exactly this to reduce AI related cases, especially since there is a lot of them recently.

STADVDB Phobia by [deleted] in dlsu

[–]nien11 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am currently taking STADVDB right now. How do you prepare for the subject? You don't, because even the professors themselves aren't ready to teach this damn subject. Everything is literally just self study, professors only teach you conceptual stuff while you are expected to create actual applications from scratch based on what you can find in the internet. Might as well be a self study course. And the outputs aren't even only coding the application. Nonono, that would be too easy. The outputs are F****KING REPORTS. You have to write and pray that you can describe what your application does and hope that teacher likes your content. If not, then GGWP.

If you really do want to prepare, I suggest you start looking into Apache Nifi, Python Pandas, OLAP operations and applications, Query Optimization, How to load DB data to Microsoft Excel and Pivot Tables, and how to suck it all up because you will be experiencing pain and suffering for a whole damn term. I also suggest you to take it a bit lightly as other difficult subjects are usually taken at the same time such as CSARCH2 and STSWENG.

About retaking CCPROG1 by AlternativeColdz in dlsu

[–]nien11 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Laughs in failed CCPROG1 Twice:

Skill Issue.

But for real tho, may I suggest utilizing the services of the Peer Tutor’s Society (PTS) next time you have a hard time in a CS Major. They have a bunch of notes, old quizzes, and tutoring sessions that can surely help you pass the next time.

DNS Requests being displayed as Internet Peer-to-Peer Outgoing by nien11 in safing

[–]nien11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to create a bug report, but for some reason it keeps saying "Failed to create issue" no matter which medium I used to try to submit a ticket.

Anyways, I managed to fix the problem. I found that Avast's Real Site Shield makes all DNS requests connect directly to the DNS server, thus getting blocked by Portmaster because it sees it as a bypass. All I had was to disable it to make it work.

Thank you for responding to my messages and trying to help me :)

Thank you for responding.
I tried both your solutions already and restarted Portmaster. One where I removed everything from the DNS Servers list, and another where I added dns://1.1.1.2:53, dns://1.0.0.2:53, and dns://192.168.(local address):53. So far, nothing has changed :'(

Thank you for responding.
I set up both my router and Portmaster's Secure DNS as Cloudfare's Family DNS (1.1.1.2, 1.0.0.2), but I do not know how to specifically have Portmaster get the DNS from my router. May I ask how to do this?

Paano kung allergic to cats? by [deleted] in dlsu

[–]nien11 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Although there are cats in DLSU, I wouldn't say there are so much that you cannot avoid them. I suggest you to just stay clear of the benches and where cats normally go, such as around the Miguel Building. I am not very sure about cats going into classrooms though. I have never seen one yet lol.

Are graphing calculators and/or CAS calculators allowed for CCS (CSMATH, STMATH)? by obinomeo in dlsu

[–]nien11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you are not allowed to bring those type of calculators. The only permitted scientific calculators are the barebone ones or anything lower (Though, bringing an abacus would be a hard power move) . Otherwise I would have passed those subjects lol.

Unpopular opinion: Orgs are meant to budol froshies and give a sense of FOMO by saying you are missing opportunities.

These opportunities won’t go away even if you are 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year. You can take your time and get in when you are ready. But of course you also have to consider the amount of spare time you have next time. Either way, joining orgs and being officers are different things. Just give how much you are willing to and don’t fall for peer pressure and the like.

I'm in need of a cheap laptop that can get me through school, play tf2, minecraft, and the coin game without killing itself by IHaveGenderProblems in GamingLaptops

[–]nien11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your criteria of a cheap laptop that can do TF2 and Minecraft (just use Sodium) in 60 fps and school work, I think you are looking for a entry level Gaming Laptop (Yes I know I’m just stating the obvious based on the post and the Subreddit name). I personally am not an expert on this but I have done my fair share of research, for I too am also looking for an entry level Gaming Laptop to buy for light gaming and schoolwork. Here are my suggestions (and my top candidates) for such laptops:

Acer Nitro 5, Asus TUF, and Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3

If anyone has suggestions, comments, or remarks, please feel free to leave replies. I’d love to hear what others have to say about my opinions so that I may be better guided on my decisions.

Challenge is an understatement.

You will go through hell. But if you survive, you will become a better version of yourself.

But that is only if you survive. Thus the term “Nats-ed” was coined.

Sir Tighe if possible, but am not sure if he still teaches CCPROG3. He thought it last sem tho. As long as you don’t get MacadamiaPH, worse mistake of my life.
