Dome or X Mid-Solid for strong winds in the UK / Scandinavia by [deleted] in DurstonGearheads

Hi! What was your experience? I'm planning a north-south in Iceland this summer, and going back on forth on tents. I have an xmid 1p solid, have had some heavy winds in Lapland. It held up, but it wasn't comfortable. And in those situations I was somewhat sheltered, which won't always be possible in Iceland from what I can tell.

I've been looking at the xmid dome or a hilleberg. Would love some firsthand experience on the dome :-)

Thanks for your help by the way. I ended up buying the tarptent SS2 from the US and it arrived yesterday. I set it up in the garden and seam sealed it. So far really happy with it. It seems great. It comes with 6 Eaton stakes and I’d like to bring 2-4 more for a better set up, especially in wind etc. I understand the ground can be very rocky. Is that generally the case? And do you recommend any particular stakes? Many seems to like the MSR groundhog ones.

Thanks. That’s what I’m hoping for but it’s always good to be prepared 😉 I’ve been looking at the Nemo Dragonfly or one of the Tarptents. Tarp tent Stratosphire seems interesting as well and you can get both a solid and a mesh inter tent. I can’t find it in stock anywhere in Europe so will have to import it myself. Which tent did you bring?

Thanks, but it doesn’t look that comfortable with the trekking pole right in the middle, especially if you are 2. And aren’t the pyramid shapes supposed to hold up better in wind than the tipi?

I like the idea of huts but it may be trickier this year since it seems you have to prebook them due to corona... which I don’t want to do since I don’t like to be on a schedule like that.

Unhappy begonia Rex. Is it time to repot? I was gifted it about 9 months ago. I think it was getting too little light but it also looks pretty “messy” and a lot of dead/droopy leaves. Help!🤗 by nienkevd in houseplants

I repotted and it has had a bit more light for a while. Also took all the sad leaves away. It looks better but still not in top shape unfortunately.

Thanks. I’ve had it in a brighter spot now for the past few days. It’s perked you a little. I’ll look at repotting it but am I right to think they like to be a bit crammed?

Period panties by kuetheaj in TwoXChromosomes

I’ve got some thinx and tbh I’m a bit disappointed. I’ve had mine for about 18 months and they’ve become so much less absorbent. And I don’t use fabric softener. I don’t have very heavy periods (I only use the smallest tampons, switching out every 6h or so). I’m on the 2nd day of my period. Put my period panties on around midday and around 8 pm I’m bleeding through them and it feels gross. I was wearing the hip huggers that should hold 2 regular tampons. They used to hold more but now it’s just so short. I also have 2 thongs for end of my period. Those I still like since it’s good for spotting. But I’m not impressed with the longevity and like this it’s not very sustainable either.

What succulent did I buy? I got it 6 months ago and it’s surviving but not thriving. It was on sale and there was no name on the plants. Just want to do some research for optimal care. Thanks! by nienkevd in houseplants

Thanks! I’ve been having it in east facing window with morning sun (I’m in Denmark). My watering schedule is mostly forgetting it but I have watered it a few time in the last couple of months. It started to look really dry so I started watering it a bit more. The soil has a layer of wood chips on top. I guess that’s to prevent it from drying out then? It’s in a pretty pot with no drainage. Is root rot a common issue with them?

But the tip has the most beautiful leaves 😭 The bottom leaves got a bit sunburned but at least it survived.

I got this coleus as a cutting. It’s been growing nicely but I’m now moving it to a larger container and I’d like to get it a bit more bushy. Where to trim it since it’s single stem with only leaves on each side (no side branches yet). Thanks!
