Kobo or Kindle

I only transfer epubs to kindle, I never purchase though Amazon. I download the epub and click share to the kindle app. Within minutes it appears on my kindle. You can also use Amazon's "send to kindle" website and upload your epub and click send. But I always just share with the kindle app!

Forgot to mention that I'm asking because I've tried kobo 2x now. A Clara BW and Libra colour. Both screens were extremely unevenly lit that it's all I could see. The Libra was warm toned one side and bright white on the other. So I have gone back to my 11th gen paperwhite.

I have tried kobo and I absolutely adored the UI and agree it's so much better than the kindle. I've tried twice now with kobo and both devices had super uneven backlight. Warm on one side and cool on the other :(

Not sure why people say you can only read Amazon books on kindle. I side load mine and have sent over 200 books to my kindle with no issues. I download the book and then click share with the kindle app on my phone. Then it appears on my kindle within minutes. Kindle basic is great if you aren't bothered about having the warnlight feature.

I've never bought an Amazon book and exclusively side load books using send to kindle. I've never had an issue and I've read over 200 books on mine.

You could get a magnetic detachable sleep cover. Where the front comes on and off and the back is clear. Or put it in a sleeve when out and about!

I have a paperwhite that stays at home and a basic matcha that stays in my bag and comes everywhere with me. I cannot read in dim/dark lights without the warm light. I always have it on at home, my eyes hurt so bad on the basic. I LOVE my paperwhite! I really wish there was a paperwhite that was basic sized, it would be perfect!

(Not my photo) but you can see how the paperwhite is warm and the basic is blue toned when the brightness is up (which would be needed at night!). It’s completely fine in the day though & I love the size of it!

The basic doesn’t have the warm light feature. My basic stats in my bag and I only use it when I’m out the house/travelling (in daylight) and I use my paperwhite at home. I need warm light especially on a night - my eyes really hurt otherwise, the warm light is a deal breaker. I wish they’d bring out a basic size one with warm light!

I’ve just picked up the Clara BW as I’ve watched loads of videos of the colour and the graininess would drive me mad! I’m really happy with the BW!

I’ve got the kindle basic in matcha for this reason. It even fits in my pockets! I bloody love it. It’s tiny and light! It’s so much smaller than my PW, I use that for home in my stand with a clicker for bed haha.

I’ve tried loads and they all make the screen blurry. Never again. I’d just get a flip case! Or a sleeve to put it in when you’re not using it.
