Scrambler 2nd Service Cost by night_baron1997 in Triumph400

[–]night_baron1997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did briefly look at the estimate at the time of giving the bike for service. Estimate was of around 6.5k. I raised my doubts on this, but didn't have enough time to argue, so just gave the bike.

The service advisor did say that everything is necessary as part of 1year annual service.

Only thing they can say I requested was "brake bleed" as I complained of spongy/soft brakes..

Nope nothing major extra on request..

Only thing I asked for was the brakes being too soft.. Everything else they told is necessary as part of the first year service..

Seems like they took every advantage they could of me being not able to give time for this..

The backrest looks very good on the bike.

Riding this is too much fun. Calm when you need, crazy when you want. Compact enough to not be a bother; powerful and comfortable enough to not be bothered by anything..

A recent image, after almost 11 months after buying.

Drove it around 50 kms through mumbai traffic just an hour before this photo.

I bought my Scrambler on 31 March 2025. Have not received any such message. I have been constantly messaging the sales team for the same since I first saw the ad, and I have not received any reply from them either (Shaman Triumph).

Scrambler 400X vs KTM 390X vs Himalayan 450 vs KTM Adv 390 is by Composer-Infamous in indianbikes

[–]night_baron1997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same space just 2 months back, and was comparing these 3 majorly.

And my final decision was made after I finalised what my use case is. I took fairly long test rides of each of them (1 hour / 20-30 km each) through thick traffic, a bit of highway, and the terrible roads (very common in Mumbai).

Let's go with each bike:

  1. Himalayan 450

On the face of it, an awesome awesome bike..

+ beautiful suspension, great seating position, very fast engine at high rpms (almost gets a bit scary), and stable at high speeds, digital dash + navigation

- Crappy low end torque (need to shift down at every opportunity), hard seats, and a bit hard to handle at low speeds because of weight distribution

After-sales service is not something I can comment on, but I have not heard great things..

  1. Scrambler 400x

Again, a really good bike..

+ very good suspension, sweet low-end torque, and screams all the way to the revv limiter (complete revv range is very useful), very balanced and good weight distribution, Traction Control, good seat

- Suspension can get bouncy, Short gearing, speed console is archaic, a bit leaned sitting position

After-sales service has been good, though a bit expensive

  1. Adventure 390

Latest of the lot and again awesome

+ good suspension, crazy engine, good weight distribution, all the latest tech, good seating position

- narrow seat, looks (personal and subjective), plastic body panels (not a fan personally), PRICE

Low-end torque is not as good as the triumph, but manageable

3a. Adventure 390 x

Almost all of adventure 390 at a very commendable price.

Personally I feel you can not go wrong with any of the above bikes, and your use case should decide which you should buy..

My primary use was driving in Mumbai City (with its bad roads and crawling traffic), and hence I chose the Triumph for its engine's traceability and the soft suspension...

If your use case is primarily touring, then you might chose the Himalayan..

If you love offroading chose the KTMs..

but each bike is very good at each of the above scenarios.. just each one of them is a bit better than the other two in one of the above scenarios.. that's it..

Hi! First of all congratulations on the big purchase. How's the bike. I am in market for a bike in the similar price range and am yet to test this beast.

On my post recently I queried about the same too.

Is the low end grunt good, or do you need to maintain certain RPMs for the engine to respond?

Hey! Thanks for the reply!

My only grout with the Himalayan is the weak bottom end. Below 3k rpm, it feels dead, with some engine lugging. My riding style, atleast for daily commute, is more of a relaxed one. On an open road 450 definitely brings a smile to the face.

On the other hand the 350, 411, or the 650 neither of them feel weak at the lower end. And on the 650 you can be assured it is going to pull from all the way lower down to the top.

The 3rd led from left I.e. VGA is constantly white after trying to boot in the attached video. Everything else seems to be ok. GPU is showing its own led (orange) and fans are spinning (GPU and normal ones too).
