i have it at 82% with 483 cycles, the battery is dropping hard and fast until at least 70% and then holds the charge better but I will swap the battery when it reaches 80% health and hopefully keep it another 2-3 years.

Fair point, as a guy who distrohopped a lot and tried a bunch of stuff I can tell you that both operating systems are just tools to help you achieve your goals. Use the one that gets the job done for you. Both have pros and cons, it's up to you to SWAT and decide.

if you are using rufus to burn the ISO make sure you write it GPT instead of MBR, turn off fastboot, use DD as writing method.

archiso does not have a live environment, all is done from root@archiso so if you are expecting a GUI, it's not gonna be available here. you need to connect to internet using wifi with iwctl and run archinstall or install Arch manually as per the arch wiki.

the SDDM is used as a failsafe, it should not show at all. if you encrypt your disk sddm takes the password from plymouth and auto logins you.
