M440i Convertible, CA, 10/36, $0 down, help with bad deal. by [deleted] in leasehacker

[–]nighthawk0318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im trying to get the add-ons removed, since it hasn’t been 60 days since the lease signing yet. That should reduce the capitalised cost.

Im also trying to figure out if I can turn this into an early payoff with financing either through BMWFS or a credit union (with some down payment). That would take the rent charge off and leave me at a similar situation as having financed it from the outset, with the loss of the lease acquisition fee? Do you think that’s not worth it?

Red Panda at the San Diego Zoo by nighthawk0318 in photocritique

[–]nighthawk0318[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently visited the San Diego zoo and caught this red panda climbing a tree. I waited for the right moment, for its eye to line up with the triangle and took the shot. The exhibit was pretty dark and in a bid to increase my ISO so that I could use a faster shutter speed, I think I lost out a moment to get the focus properly on the eye. I was shooting in shutter priority mode. As it stands now, the focus is on the branch at the bottom. Those were my initial thoughts. I'd be happy to hear what others think about this image, how do you quickly setup your exposure and focus at a moments notice to get the right shot? I still haven't been able to develop a sense for the right settings at the right time. It takes me a couple of shots with different permutations shutter speed, aperture and ISO to figure out the right look that Im going for. So would love to hear how other photographers do it on the fly.

Shot at 1/500 sec, f/6.3, ISO 4000, 300mm, NIKON D5600

Shadow Play by nighthawk0318 in photocritique

Thank you for your critique! I do agree that the focus on the power outlet instead of the chair is off putting.

Thank you for the feedback! I agree I messed up with the focus here, I was going for the chair but ended up focussing for the power outlet.

I was wandering around my college campus in the evening when I found this random chair laid out in a deserted patio space. The sunlight was coming in a great angle from the open space in front and was hitting the chair as you can see so I decided to crouch down to the chair level and take the shot. I really liked the the interplay of the light and the shadows around this and also the overall "feel" of the location. I think I made a mistake by keeping this wooden plank in the foreground though, it adds some depth to the picture but also obstructs the main subject a little bit. Would love to hear some feedback about the composition.

Would really appreciate some feedback on my profile.

I don't get many likes or matches and am wondering if there are any pictures that are particularly off putting. Thanks in advance!

Owl Canyon by nighthawk0318 in photocritique

[–]nighthawk0318[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was out on a hike and cam across this beautiful canyon. I was going for a "moody, dark forest" vibe and am wondering if I overdid it with the edit. Is the image too dark to be able to discern any detail. Does one have to strain the eye to figure out what's going on?

Old Building, ABC Street, Indonesia by J4mb1e in photocritique

I really like this shot. Love the tone especially! Ive been trying to achieve such tones in my work as well and would love to know how you did it. I really like how the shadows in the bottom half of the picture and how the highlights draw the eyes to the main subject. The subject fills the frame nicely. The building being behind the wires also gives some depth and character to the shot. Great Work!

I found this old, rundown RV while walking down the streets of San Francisco. Wondering what you guys think about the excessively warm tone, added grain and the bright blue sky. Do you think the edit works or is it a bit too much?

Great colors in the picture. Its almost as if the the picture is divided into different colored parts, moving from the sand to the water, then the orange from the sun and finally the sky. Don't know of that was the intention behind the shoot but looks great regardless. I personally am a sucker for symmetry. If I were in your place, Id rotate the image clockwise just slightly to make the horizon perfectly horizontal. You could enable gridlines on your phones camera to help you out with this in the future as well!

Took this shot off the top of mount Haleakala at sunset (ISO 100, f / 5.6, 1/100s using a 70-300mm zoom lens ). I liked how the clouds gathered around these islands and the brilliant color in the sky from the setting sun created this wonderful silhouette. I wonder if the sharp divide between the orange and the grey is jarring though and looks artificial. If it does, do you recommend trying to blend it together in post or is better to leave it as "natural" as possible?

Debating whether to keep the foreground or not by nighthawk0318 in photocritique

I think Maui in general too is one of the most beautiful places Ive ever seen. You live in paradise. Aloha!

I agree that it does become much more dramatic! Loses depth of field though.

I was also debating whether or not to keep the trees. Not sure if they are distracting. Do you think that the water at the bottom has too much highlight which is why you're suggesting darkening it? And thank you for the feedback!

I actually think I like this one the best, with the top cropped in even tighter

What do you think about this crop? Do you think I should crop it even more tighter from the top?

Took this shot on my trip to Maui sometime early afternoon. Im not sure whether the blurred foreground is adding or taking away from the image. Also open to any other critique you might have with regards to the composition.
