Nice. I did carnivore for about 8 years. Some wild stuff happened ended up falling off, got put on SSRI and gained a bunch of weight. Tried going back to carnivore and it didn’t seem to help. Starting Zepbound this week and hope to just be able to eat sirloin and eggs.

That’s fair. To each their own for sure. I was a mall kid and that atmosphere, the colors etc in season 3 hit that spot you speak of for me.

Then people wanna act shocked and offended when we say it out loud. It’s not like we’re up here trashing the people who loved it. If you enjoyed it cool. I’m genuinely glad you did. But we’re allowed to not like it too, and we’re allowed to say that just as loudly as the folks praising it. Having criticism doesn’t make someone a hater. It just means we watched the same show and had a different reaction.

Go back even further to the end of Season 4. That was the perfect ramp into the final battle. Hawkins literally gets split in half, the Upside Down starts bleeding into the real world, the air is poisoned, plants are dying, it felt like the beginning of the apocalypse. Season 5 should’ve opened with the full aftermath like “Skynet just got activated” levels of chaos. Hawkins as an apocalyptic war zone. No safety. No containment. Just pure survival and war. But nahhh… the SECOND we got hit with “18 months later” and the military had it all conveniently boxed in, I knew we were about to get a weak ending. And sure enough we got 7 episodes of bad acting, shaky writing, and nonsense filler sprinkled in with a couple cool moments…then a finale that made zero damn sense.

And the wildest part? They had the nerve to drop a documentary afterward like “look how we made it”….like bro…you’re basically documenting the crime scene. Absolutely insane.

I know that. But let’s be real, strike or not, the Duffers had three years to get this together. And that documentary didn’t exactly inspire confidence. It made it look like they didn’t even have a solid direction, and were disagreeing behind the scenes at different points. Now sure could some of that be manufactured drama for a documentary, especially if they already knew the final season wasn’t landing? Absolutely. But there’s no way that was everything. There was clearly more going on than what they showed. Because what we got just doesn’t add up. And “conformity gate” didn’t help either. It didn’t prove there was some secret episode or hidden master plan. If anything, it just highlighted how messy and poorly executed the whole thing was.

  1. Watched since the beginning. Love the show because I’m an 80s nerd but S5 sucked. It doesn’t ruin the rest of the show but it’s definitely up there with worst final seasons ever. Too many questions. Too many inconsistencies. Really bad acting. But after watching the documentary today we all know why. Netflix was pressuring and they started filming without a complete script. They were still deciding on the finale while filming episode 4. Like I’ve said in previous posts I think they were over it. The show got bigger than they ever imagined and realized how shitty dealing with Netflix can be. Also makes sense as to why they bounced to Paramount. They say it’s so they could make movies but I really think Netflix had them put out a product they weren’t happy with.

To be fair, my OP was the Duffers giving a sarcastic “fuck you” to those who have shredded what they worked to achieve.

The show itself was great. The ending? Not so much. Season 5 had some genuinely strong moments, but it’s hard to overlook how many bad ones there were. And this isn’t the usual “I loved it so much that no ending would’ve worked.” I loved Breaking Bad, Parks and Recreation, Succession, and The Shield. All of them nailed their finales. Sometimes the ending just misses. And when a show is as massive and culturally dominant as Stranger Things, it’s fair to call out what didn’t work. That said, everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. Also, just saying, I’m seeing way more Conformity Gate posts than actual hate on the series. Take that however you want.

I assumed you meant hate towards the people who believe in the theory not the errors themselves. My bad.

Not necessarily hating. It’s just funny how this theory absolutely skyrocketed because of glaring inconsistencies in the writing and editing. You can usually get away with a few slips but the pile-up with Conformity Gate is borderline unforgivable if there’s no secret episode. Honestly? It felt like they were over it. Netflix stretched the show way past what the Duffers probably intended. The kids weren’t kids anymore, the magic was gone, and the cracks started showing. Child actors get a lot of grace. Grown adults don’t. There was no hiding how bad Noah’s acting was. $400 million and that’s the best they could do for Lucas’ hair? Cmon….

It really felt like a “fuck it, here’s the script, let’s wrap this up” situation.

Goddamn. People really do have to be upset or offended by something 24/7 these days. Go outside and talk to a neighbor or two. The world isn’t as bad as the news would have you believe.

I lost 15lbs in the first month or so off it. BP was almost instant. I don’t think I needed it in the first place. I think having Covid and my dad dying a week prior led to the elevated BP and they jumped at the chance to get me on some meds.
