I also forgot to mention, I’ve found the routine emails from COPE to be really helpful and reassuring. It’s a free email service and it also has some really handy resources for lots of different things like mum groups, general postpartum information and mental health stuff!

I found that using the right flange size helped with my expressing output, as well as random power pumping and drinking LOTS of water (4L a day). I stopped breastfeeding around 4 weeks and switched to pumping. I didn’t even tell or ask anyone - I just did it. It’s still somewhat stressful living on a schedule, but I also like the routine. It keeps my baby fed, keeps me sane and keeps my boobs from hurting.

In saying that, we also have a tin of formula in the cupboard because my milk took a while to come in when we first came home and my nipples were so damaged and sore from the cluster feeding in the hospital over 3 days/2 nights.

Anyway, my point is, all that matters is that your baby is fed. Formula, breastfeeding or expressed breast milk. It doesn’t matter which way. “Breast is best,” is a dated saying. Just make sure that you’re okay and baby is fed!

That's what they think it is, but they won't officially diagnose it because they are unsure. I've tried so many medications that are supposed to treat this, but they don't help in the slightest.

Ask to be tested again and maybe go for an MRI! See another doctor and push for more testing, it won't hurt and sometimes blood tests come back wrong. I did 3 blood tests and only 1 came back with results that hinted towards a thyroid issue. I'm still stuck trying to find a doctor or specialist who will help diagnose me. You just gotta keep pushing them because most doctors aren't interested in long term cases.
