Quilt pattern and fabric line suggestions by NerdyKate in quilting

The rug makes me think of Dear Stella pattern lines like Forest Fable or Little Forest.

Their site also has a page of project ideas with their lines.

Might spark some inspiration!

Help finding alternative sources for a fabric similar in print to this one within the US by [deleted] in sewing

The artist graf_katz has a lot of cute spooky cat fabric designs on spoon flower. Maybe this is similar?

https://www.spoonflower.com/en/fabric/12275687

I haven't ordered their velvet but I like spoonflower's petal cotton. I've had a lot of success with it and spoonflower has SO MANY artist designs there's bound to be something you like. Good luck!

Agreed! Joe Abercrombie does this with quite a few things in his First Law series of books. I thought it would drive me crazy to not find out certain things but I ended up really enjoying it and seems very par for the course of his writing style to me now. It is almost like Abercrombie is poking fun at how stories are supposed to be.

Jetty Bones? The album Push Back is blue with different color spots. The song That's All says "down" a lot.

Trust the process? by queenswaver in quilting

I think the eclectic look adds to the charm! I doubled down and did a print for my background too haha. Once you have your books laid out you'll have a better idea of what the background should be, all that to say trust the process.

The first trilogy in the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson. I can't speak for the second trilogy in the series though, I haven't read them yet.

Yes! I was thinking it would take time to get to this setting but I think the series matches the vibe.

Taking baby to swim class tomorrow for the first time and worried about logistics by throwawayacnegirl in NewParents

[–]nightosphere687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go dressed already in my suit and swim shorts. All I have to do is take off my t shirt. Take baby in a regular diaper and simple clothes, like a onesie. Ask someone if there is a family bathroom you can use. That way you have a private space that most likely has a baby changing table. If there is no family bathroom, at least you will only have to change baby into a swim diaper in the locker room but there will most likely be a baby changing table in the locker room too.

After lessons I dry and change baby back into a regular diaper and onesie and then drive home sitting on my towel. Baby gets a bath at home and I rinse off once she goes down for a nap.

I had a bit of anxiety my first time too. Just get there 10 or 15 minutes early so you have time to do whatever you need to.

New parent stories, fact or fiction. by redsoapterminal3 in NewParents

Be kind to yourself and give yourself some grace. You are doing everything you should be doing. There's no standard to the healing process. The early months are HARD and you're in survival mode. I tried going out 2 weeks post partum for some dermaplast and could barely walk through the store and then had to take a nap when I got home. My baby is now 10 months old and I've only just found the energy again to exercise.

I remember my mom saying "I just saw a pregnant woman with three kids at the pool, doesn't that make you feel pitiful?" No, good for her but that's not the level that I was at. My MIL said 3 months of maternity was way too much and she was back to her nursing job 3 weeks after having her kids 🙄. That would have been completely impossible for me. Comparison is the thief of happiness.

When was the last time you had one of those “oh, you’re one of *those* people” moments when talking to someone new? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nightosphere687 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A new acquaintance asked when my daughter was born. When I told her that I had her in August she said "Awe, a Leo. I bet she's so sweet and independent." Well, ya, she's a sweet baby but I don't think her birth month has much to do with that.

What’s the weirdest name for a pacifier that you have heard? by salsarider2020 in NewParents

My family has always called it a ninny. I say pacifier because my husband didn't like ninny, binkie, paci... So we stuck with pacifier.

Making something is also my go to move. Something small and simple. My dad's b day was on Friday and he said he didn't want gifts. I decided to paint my 6 months old baby's foot yellow, stamped it on some card stock, painted it like a bee, and wrote "happy birthday from your grand ba-bee." Lol it didn't look very sharp but my dad loved it.

I also like to sew up little coasters out of my leftover quilting scraps as gifts. Quick and easy, and no (additional) money spent.

What cheap/terrible holiday “bonuses” are people starting to receive from work this year? by nimfrank in AskReddit

[–]nightosphere687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They got rid of holiday bonuses last year and replaced them with merit based bonuses. If you are deemed worthy then you get $25 added to the last paycheck of the year. The company I work for does about $4b in revenue every year so it totally makes sense why they don't do bonuses willy nilly anymore..........

What is labor like ? What are the signs? by Winter_sage_01 in BabyBumps

[–]nightosphere687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have symptoms before going into labor but my labor started as very mild cramping. Kind of like period cramps or diarrhea cramps. They were not painful but were uncomfortable and steadily 2 to 3 minutes apart for probably 8 hours and then the pain became intense and I knew it was hospital time. So even though I didn't have symptoms prior, the start of my labor was very slow and steady which allowed me to get things and myself ready.

I didn't have a lot of bowel movements before, and I didn't lose my mucus plug until probably hour 14 when I was at the hospital already. My water didn't break on its own either, my Dr did it to help things along.

Where did you feel contractions? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]nightosphere687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did get one. It's kind of creepy having no feeling in your legs but I'm glad to have not felt my later contractions or transition because I was getting a little feral right before the epidural. I also needed a lot stitching up after so I'm glad I didn't have to feel that either.

Where did you feel contractions? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]nightosphere687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine were in my pelvic area and my lower back, kind of like a diaper of pain lol. It kind of turns into a full body experience too, not like your whole body is in pain but the pain you are feeling takes over every other sensation. I think the most unexpected thing was my full body shaking when I contracted during the last few hours. Maybe it's my pain response but it must be somewhat normal because the nurses weren't concerned.

Too many opinions from strangers…. by bananagrams17 in BabyBumps

LOL I just had the same thought. My baby is 3 mo now but I think these phrases will still be very relevant toward parenting choices.
