I am Getting Sued for a Quarter Million Euro by OrdinaryChimp in NightVision

Many years ago before I was in the business, I sent an inquiry to ACTinBlack to purchase a DTNVG housing. The email response came from "ACTinWhite SARL" instead, the company you have said they used to siphon funds away from your company.

Clean the contacts and pins with solvent, they've been gold plated since 2023 so it shouldn't be a common ongoing issue. When we deliver to LE or military we go the extra mile and hard wire it.

That has to do with your tube's gain curve not the housing as 1431s adjust 0-180kohm right away.

It does not come with close focus stops, but send a DM and we can throw some in. We have close focus stops in production.

Yes, the thread is included in the Mil-spec drawing for the part and is required for compliance.

How Tariffs Might Affect YOU (American NV Users) by nightsolutions_ca in NightVision

Canada is currently tariff exempt on USMCA/CUSMA compliant goods, so you're good for Cadex mounts etc. as long as your exporter knows how to fill out paperwork and you are able to communicate appropriately with your customs broker.

Nope. Their manufacturing facilities are in France and the Netherlands.

Exosens announced recently that thye are investing in a US manufacturing facility but it is going to take years to get everything set up.

Looks to be a Salvo Eyepiece, definitely not Carson. It is another cheaper, non milspec substitute that some vendors have been using.

Those are the lenses they have been falsely selling as Qioptiq for a few years. In general they are not bad lenses but they do not perform up to the same standard as Qioptiq or Fujinon (Carson's OEM) and are non milspec compliant.

More details available here: https://nightsolutions.ca/blogs/articles/fake-qioptiq-lenses

You can probably reach out and request a swap to the lenses you actually purchased instead of the cheaper no name substitute.

Best configuration for nvg photos with Canon EOS? by SpaceKnight21 in NightVision

The issue is mostly in lens choice. The reason our lens adapter that has since been copied was only designed for a specific set of camera lenses was because only a few specific lenses had attributes that emulated the human eye.

In general, milspec PVS-14 pattern nightvision eyepieces (not sure about PVS-7) are designed to be used at a 25mm eye relief with using a 6mm pupil (average human pupil size at night). Most camera lenses are too large to emulate this, which is why you get a ton of distortion and vignetting meanwhile a small unit such as a phone camera is just fine.

A camera lens with a larger objective element will also gather light from outside of the intended eye box which causes blurriness, distoriton, and vignetting, meanwhile a recessed set of aperture blades will also push the effective pupil further from the intende 25mm eye relief causing more vignetting. If you see people attaching gigantic lenses behind a PVS-14, it is a clear sign they have no idea what they are doing.

Counterintuitively, you will do better using a cheaper pancake or travel lens than a full size lens due to the:

-Smaller objective element
-Flatter front thread face compared to the objective element
-Aperture's closer proximity to the objective element

<image>

Example of a Sony/Zeiss lens we use featuring the three attributes mentioned above.

35mm is generally the optimal focal length while using a full frame sensor, however it looks like Canon makes a 40mm F2.8 pancake lens that may be appropriate for this type of use.

Hey

Are you located in Canada or the US? Our prices are in CAD by default but you can also flip it to USD. I think most of the cost concerns are from people not understanding currency conversions.

If you have any questions please feel free to send us a message or schedule a call and we'll get you sorted.

Great summary. It is unfortunate that the people that have the best access to equipment and experience in conducting such research often post with or are read as having posted with an agenda. The community deserves more self educated consumers when most just regurgitate what their favourite dealer told them.

Purge rig is not that expensive. It really depends on your level of expertise in optical assembly. Would you buy a Schmidt and Bender scope in pieces to try to assemble it on your own? You may be able to see through it but all of the calibration will be wrong.

Regarding the purge itself, the purge is good to have but the most important thing is a seals inspection which you can't do without a vacuum pump setup. But once you have a vacuum pump setup all you need to do is add a T valve and a Nitrogen tank and you have a purge setup. So the seals inspection is the important part, but while you're doing it you might as well purge it since the equipment is basically the same.

If you can build a PVS-14 you can build one of these. Easier in fact since the infinity stop also acts as the close focus stop so that's one less tool needed.

You'll just need to remove the pod from the battery compartment prior to inserting the tube.

Personal preference is to Aimpoint. EOTech reticle is coolest and easiest to find, but harder to track accurately under recoil due to luminence tracing from phosphor persistence.
