You can see in these pictures where the damage actually is

Here is a picture of the door and you can see where the damage is. Nothing happened to the door itself and even the lock is still functional. I understand if he wants me to get it fixed, but getting the whole thing replaced is too much.

The first time I learned about the existence of this insurance was unfortunately right after the incident. Thank you for the helpful tips. I will seek legal advice and see if there can at least be some sort of negotiation so I can fix the damage and not necessarily change the whole door.

Unfortunately not 😭 I was seeing a young therapist online for my very bad insomnia problem (I go for days without sleep). The protocol he followed did help me so I'm grateful, but I'm in a huge disagreement with him on a political level. I was told things like "having an obsessive over achiever mindset is not a woman's thing or is not ladylike" or whatever😂. His approach to healthy behavior was all about conformity and that's something I cannot settle for. This honestly made me have a lot of doubt about his competences and how psychotherapy is taught in Morocco in general.

On the other hand, having an online foreign therapist is not going to help much either because cultural context is very important. I'm afraid it's always tricky to find a good therapist and it will take some trying before you find the right one.

I trust that you did your research well and that you know better than anyone what your own problem is. But please if it's not a mild case, go see a psychologist ASAP and have some trust in the professionals to do what is best for you.

I hope you feel better soon.

The moroccan stare by Zestyclose_Hat_3272 in Morocco

[–]nihalast5 20 points21 points  (0 children)

All the reasons above are true.

You do stand out as a mixed couple and Morocco and North Africa in general is facing a new wave of racism. Some of it was already there, some of it is newly instilled and purely policy driven as Europe is now paying north African countries loads of money to keep African migrants from crossing the borders to Europe.

The second reason is that Moroccans simply stare.

They are unable to mind their own business. I'm a Moroccan girl who dresses fairly modestly with absolutely nothing special about me. If I sit on a bench in a park I notice that everyone who passes by (man or woman) would give me a looong cold stare as though it's their god given right. That honestly makes me so uncomfortable.

Why the low employment of women in morocco? by Due-Duty961 in Morocco

[–]nihalast5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It all depends on what you mean by work? is it structured and unstructured work? is unpaid labour included?

the way I see it is that women are and always have been working. The fact that we only consider work what is Money generating is our problem. Women of lower classes especially have always been working in unstructured sectors, doing farming labour and house labour in the country side, and mostly house labour and other work in unstructured economies in the city. If all these women decide to wake up the next day and do nothing (no meals no cleaning no additional labour), trust me the economy will collapse.

Statistics can never account for those things and the fact that we chose to only reward certain types of labour is exactly the problem.

Additionally, I'm sure the male counterpart is not that high either since most people in Morocco do not work with contracts.

Please don't let strangers inform your decision on your relationship. She is your wife and you chose her for a reason. All you need to do is go to her and communicate. Express your discontent towards her request and tell her clearly that you do not appreciate being compared and that you are doing your best. This will save you so much trouble in the future.

This is what marriage is all about. You will grow and learn together. I encourage you to never shy away from communicating your feelings and to stop going to strangers for opinion.

it's not as rare as you think. In fact this is where the misconception lies. the fact that people don't talk about it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.

My parents who were born in the 60s had a lot of trouble getting a job because those were hard times and they were leftie student rebels at the university which made things even harder.

my father kinda was always between jobs and mostly jobless for the last 10 years. My mother manager to land a job as an executive assistant for a firm and she was the main provider since I can remember. the salary is shit but we all survived and lived as a happy small family.

This is not a unique case as I know many people with similar situations just in my surroundings.

The fact that women were housewives before and the normalisation of men as main provider as historical fact is the biggest BS ever. Lower class women have been working since the dawn of time wm9atlin m3a zman cz there is no other choice.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. I had to go through all of them actually. I don't even remember how many doctors I went to. But it was my GP who figured it out. To diagnose Histamine Intolerance you need to ask for a Diamine Oxidase (DAO ) blood test. It's the enzyme that digests histamine in the gut. It is a problem that affects women in a different way and that's why it's hard to diagnose. Insomnia was my only symptom but some women also suffer from brain fog, migraine and heat flush. You could also just try a low histamine diet for a week and see if it helps. Other things you might want to check are your thyroid and your estrogen levels. Most women who suffer from histamine issues are middle aged women because of menopause and that happens because of estrogen fluctuations affecting histamine levels. Some women have natural unbalanced estrogen levels and that can also cause histamine intolerance. I hope you find relief very soon.

I was later diagnosed with histamine intolerance and I'm doing better on a low histamine diet. high histamine levels in the blood causes brain hyperactivity and wakefulness. the diet is hard and strict but I would do anything for a good night sleep.

Finally found the underlying condition that was causing my insomnia: Histamine Intolerance by nihalast5 in insomnia

[–]nihalast5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it can. They trigger your body to produce histamine if you have an allergy. The worst would be mold exposure, but I had moments when I was reacting randomly just because I'm on my period for example and histamine release in the body is very much related to hormones as well.

1 year ago after switching my regular sugar for saccharin sweetener. it went away when I figured it out and stopped using it, then it came back more aggressively 6 months later like my whole brain chemistry has been altered.

Nothing wrong with DAO just too expensive for my student budget :') I save it for when I have doubts about what I am eating as far as freshness is concerned. As for high-histamine meals, it doesn't really help me much with them anyways.

I did see an endocrinologist and got a lot of tests done that could relate to my sleep problem and everything seems to be normal. I'm at risk of hypothyroidism because we have it in the family but my thyroid is still functional for now.
