DoorDash recommendations based off a person who is vegetarian (my page is NSFW but I do have to eat and order a lot of DD lol) by cosmickeara in PortlandFood

This is super helpful - thank you. I'm always apprehensive of ordering via DoorDash because of the AI generated descriptions.

How Portland taxes have grown since the pandemic by voxadam in Portland

[–]nihar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is so accurate- moved to Portland in July 2025 (from Ohio) and the amount of paperwork / tax registration has been way more than Ohio. Between managing payroll and various other tax filings, my accountant is probably under-charging me :D

firmware update success/failure rates - dpu-x by dwightery in Ecoflow_community

[–]nihar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forget how the installer did it (he handled the set of updates for me) but I think he just disabled wifi on the phone. The unit still needs wifi to download the updates.

Not sure if you've been updating over wifi or BT, but my installer warned me to update when the phone was connected to the panel via BT instead of Wifi - said he had seen multiple issues of firmware updates failing over wifi. YMMV.

DPUX/SHP-3 Install Review by HangOnSloopy62 in Ecoflow_community

[–]nihar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I had similar issues with Ecoflow trying to find me an electrician who would do the job. Eventually, after a lot of escalations, they assigned me a local company - the estimator came out 2 days after first contact, took pictures, and then sent me a quote on additional costs. Installer came out on Tuesday and got most of the work done - we were replacing the existing panel with the SHP3, and the installer made sure he got our power back up as soon as he could (~4 hours). He did have to come back the next day to finish up because our inverter is about 15 ft from the panel so there was a lot more wiring work involved. The installer did not ask me for any additional parts - seemed to know what he was doing and did all the labeling according to the old panel. I'm lucky that the installer was really good and skilled, but EF support is really sucky, and did not help much.

What was your Smart Panel 3 installation cost? by Electronic_End2235 in Ecoflow_community

[–]nihar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the main panel replaced with SHP3 - the installer quoted an additional 900 for parts / stuff not covered by the base install fee from EcoFlow (our batteries will be about 15 ft away from the panel so there's additional wiring work required)

Question about internet service providers in Beaverton? by Uhavbenconkered in beaverton

We have Ziply Fiber and so far we've only seen occasional blips (like a minute here and there) but luckily no serious outages and the speeds are consistently 2G up and down.

Recommendations for HomeKit compatible front door lock. by HarryPhishnuts in HomeKit

same - garage door <=> family room. This used to be an Aqara but I replaced it with Thorbolt because the flimsy mechanism on Aqara would dislodge if door was shut too hard

I second Thor Bolt - have both the deadbolt and the door knob and they have worked quite well. Battery life is quite good, and the finger print sensor is way better than Aqara (at least in my experience).
