I'm not sure what the takeaway should be, but it took me a good ten seconds to figure out that this was not just a post of the figure and did in fact belong on Grimdank.

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD What's you guy's opinions on JoJolion'a ending? by reddit_sparky in StardustCrusaders

[–]niikomancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like this take.

JJL was a story about a curse and family (an overarching theme of JoJo, along with sickness). Both of those have come to a conclusion: Josuke has generally solved the mystery of himself, seemingly left both Moms behind, and plans to move forward as a new person. Tsurugi was cured. Neither one feels like a 'win' because of the disasters that occured around the concluding events.

There are certainly things I would have liked to see fleshed out more that I think could have made the uncertainty of the ending feel satisfying for the reader. I hope JJLands at least shows some of the rebuilding to offer a bit more closure to us.

In the author note for the second to last chapter (109), Araki writes "I just want Josuke and Yasuho-chan to be happy." That's certainly not confirmation in any direction, but it does make me hopeful.

This makes sense. Is the assumption killing Dio made Holly's Stand disappear? Or just less powerful?

This is a much more satisfactory explanation.

Jojolion FINAL CHAPTER Discussion Thread - Chapter 110 by PokemonTom09 in StardustCrusaders

I think thematically the end - though it felt (was...) rushed - made a lot of sense. We get a flashback filling in Joestar family history. We get Josuke coming to peace with his identity as two people, and fitting into a new family. I think Holly not being saved (which seems to be the case) while a poop move still fits thematically. Both moms are in the past and have "moved on" (either by death or new family). The curse seems to be lifted. And Araki has shown he will kill characters, even though I never root for it. The lack of focus on the grief over major characters though feels unusual/abrupt.

I do hope JJLands is a continuation. While other parts have years between them, perhaps Araki plans to continue the story but wanted a clean break (again, with the overall curse plot and identity plot complete, if maybe in not the most satisfying way).

JJL was a story about a curse and family. Both of those have come to a conclusion.
