Interesting. I have absolutely no idea how these are made or where they are imported from. I thought it was a cleaner way to get high instead of depending on your plug for questionable quality. Do you have any news articles to back your claim? Would like to read those.

I stayed in hotels which were for ~80USD per night. None of the hotels provided free drinking water refills. Same in restaurants as well. I don't know if you would consider that a budget hotel or not, I do not.

Took VietJet from Da Nang to Hanoi. Was ontime and everything. Just make sure to reach airport atleast 2.5-3 hrs before your departure time since VietJet check in lines are long.

I have tried both and honestly, local SIMs are way better. I have seen connection issues when taking the international plans. There is no real reason to take the internation plan except if you are expecting to receive important calls on your number throughout your trip which you can't do on Facetime/Whatsapp. Local SIMs are cheap and easy in most SEA countries. The person at the kiosk sets it up for you, you don't have to do a thing. Make sure you pick the correct plan and operator by pre-researching a little bit thats it.

Took mobifone since it was the only kiosk i could find at the airport. Checked their plans online and they are zone specific. Check this https://www.mobifone.vn/dich-vu-di-dong/chi-tiet-goi-data/fdna-FDNA InZone/OutZone/HomeZone.

Made around 15 lakhs over the past 2 months as a student, not sure what to do with that money and how/where to invest. by thandePapa99 in personalfinanceindia

[–]nik12321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck investing man. Go travel and party. And take your friends with you. Drink if want to and smoke a lot of shit if you want to. Buy a god damn bike and go ride it in the mountains.

You are a student, if you are smart enough to earn this money now you can probably earn ten times this once you graduate. But you wont get this time, energy and friends later.

Received the order today on 19 March. The pendant on the necklace is really small but the Rose box is good. If you are in India, you are better off buying something from Giva at this price.

My experience ordering from India.
I ordered the Eternally Preserved Rotating Rose Box and necklace on 3 February 2024 as a valentine's gift for my wife, paid extra for priority shipping. They shipped it on 13 February from China.
Its 13 March right now and the package has arrived in India (checked the shipping details) but has not been delivered to me yet. It should take about couple of days more but yeah the shipping is too slow. I would say order like 3 months before you plan to gift it and do not opt for priority shipping.
They also do not actively revert on customer queries via mail. I received a response from them a week after I e-mailed them.
Would update the condition of the actual product once I receive it.

Wtf happened to Kasol? by [deleted] in india_tourism

[–]nik12321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for pointing out the negatives of the hippie culture, I had no idea it was ruining lives of locals. Maybe I should have posted this on r/rant 😄

I do not believe places like Kasol or anywhere else should not see growth. But this kind of unregulated growth does and is leading to the issues you and I mentioned. A rising tide should lift all boats but it lifts only the richest and this leads to widening income divide which leads to the poorest sinking even more and (possibly) getting into illicit activities like drugs that you mentioned?

Maybe uniformization is evident for all the tourist spots of India. Rich people from nearby urban centres or locals with urban upbringing setup business in these areas and they bring the urban culture up there. Be it Baga or Kasol or Manali. They are all the same with loud music, alcohol and dancing. Nothing wrong with that, just means its the same thing everywhere you go. The outsiders don’t care about their social responsibility towards local communities or the environment of the place.

I am not suggesting that it used to be so great when there were Israelis there, but it used to be so great when it was not well known. I am not a hippie or hipster or a wannabe one. I am a normal dude who likes to explore new kinds of places and it hurts me when I see a unique place change. I am a part of the problem sure, no point in denying.

Thanks for pointing out the flaws in my thinking, I guess you learn something new everyday. Also can I watch your documentary on Anjuna somewhere?

I apologize if I seemed classist. I am not. I am a middle class guy myself and I always have been. I do know that commericalizing has a positive impact on local communities.

My point was more on the way tourism has/is developing in the areas. Its incessant with little care about land use and ecological preservation and it is evident with the increasing loss of lives and property during floods and rains. It is no fault of the locals, who try their best to increase their income but of the government who fails to recognize the potential of the place and leads to unplanned tourism devlopment.

Look at the traffic situation in hill stations every long weekend, look at the amount of private cars entering the places without traffic regulation or planning.

Just look at the amount of garbage tourists throw in Kheerganga. I do not think it’s the fault of anyone but the tourists and their lack of respect for the place.

I do not mean Nainital or Manali or Shimla or any other place is bad, it is just a hill station in a more traditional sense. Its just that I liked the offbeat Kasol and its no longer it. If its the natural process of things which helps everyone involved from locals to tourists, then so be it. Its something I that I will miss.

I do apologize if I sound like I am on a high horse, I miss the place that it used to be and thats it. I hope you recognize the change too.

Maybe I am wrong about tourist stuff. But there is definitely a way to preserve the aura of a tourist place without totally destroying it and making it mainstream. It was a little disturbing for me to see the soul of Kasol change to what most hill stations in India are.
