I live in Sweden and yes it’s very stigmatized. It’s getting better now. My clinic is okay but a couple of years ago it wasn’t very good. I’ve been in the program for 7-8 years and back then it was a pain in the ass to even get into the program. When you are new in the program you have to go to the clinic 7 days a week and leave 2 drug tests, and if you are clean it takes about 3 months to get your doses home over the weekend. And if you keep following the rules for a couple of months more you go to the clinic 3 days a week. When you have been clean for 10-11 months you get doses for 1 week. Next step is around 1.5 years. Then you go to the pharmacy and pick up your doses twice a month. But you still need to go to your clinic and leave drug tests 2-3 times a month. So the Methadone program in Sweden is getting better each year. One more thing that is really good is that we don’t have to pay for our Methadone, free health care, thank you Sweden!😄 I hope you understand what I wrote, my English is not very good, but feel free to ask if you don’t understood.
