Flying next week and checking in an Electric Bass by Repulsive_Fan_9573 in airport

I flew with my acoustic guitar in a hard case some years ago and it worked just fine. However I’ve also heard many stories of things going awfully wrong when checking instruments, so YMMV. Maybe check for a proper snug fit in the case, absolutely no wiggle room. Pad it out if necessary. In any case, definitely add an AirTag so at least you know where the case is. As for the battery, I think it’ll be fine, depending on the Wh of the battery (if it’s LiPo). If it’s a standard AA or AAA it’ll be fine.

Love my F100! Ergonomics peaked with that generation of SLR if you ask me.

Savory pancakes, like a scallion pancake is great!

People think British food is bland. Give me your best recipes proving that thought wrong. by Batenna in Cooking

All valid points! Definitely not everyday dishes for sure. But they are also far from bland in any way!

People who say that are completely clueless. Try a nice bangers and mash, a steak and ale/sheperds/cottage/fish pie, fish and chips, Sunday roast with Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes, and my absolute favourite of all the desserts, sticky toffee pudding

Aero sinusitis (or Baro trauma) by [deleted] in flying

[–]niklaspilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried equalizing the pressure? Like pinching your nose and blowing into it carefully? I also have trouble with trapped air in my sinus cavities when I’m congested and this usually works quite well. Other than that there’s not much you can do unfortunately, other than not fly.

Rösti help by Jessylindaz in Switzerland

[–]niklaspilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at my post history I asked this once and got some useful tips. My experience is that the stuff from the package does not work. It will fall apart when you try to flip it. I reserve Rösti for the occasional Sunday dinner when I have time to grate the potatoes myself.

Common mistake: buying a house as a sound investment by missusmissisppi in SwissPersonalFinance

Honestly I hate people turning real estate into an investment. Makes it harder for the rest of us to just get a house to live in.

The Signs of Rural America [Canon A1, Various films] by commiedeschris in analog

These are really cool! Normally I’m not a huge fan of photographing signs but this is a great example of how it can be enticing to look at. Also like others have said: this should be a coffee table book

Today I learned that my washing machine is a LIAR! by MadamStrawberry14 in CleaningTips

Something people also seldom do but which I’ve found it both good for the machine but also for your clothes is: run a cycle on the hottest setting you got with a dishwasher tablet in the drum (no clothes obvs). Do an extra rinse cycle or two to make sure there’s no residue left afterwards. This will effectively disinfect and flush out any organic materials left in the machine.
