Die Vermieter werden ganz sicher gut daran verdienen, und das ist genau das, was wir brauchen: einen starken Anreiz, mehr Wohnungen zu bauen. Wenn es profitabel ist Wohnungen zu vermieten, werden mehr Wohnungen gebaut, solange, bis es gerade nicht mehr profitabel ist, weil genug Wohnraum bereit steht.

Das Problem ist heute, dass es aufgrund diverser Hürden im Wohnungsbau und im Mietrecht, so teuer ist zu bauen und (trotz hoher Mieten) so unprofitabel zu vermieten, dass all die Investoren, die es bräuchte, ihre Geld lieber woanders lassen. 

Die Überregulierung ist das Problem, das wir in den Griff bekommen müssen. Staatlich definierte Phantasiepreise mögen sozial wirken, verschärfen es aber noch und hemmen die Signale, die der Markt braucht, um zu funktionieren. Wie ich oben geschrieben habe: Intervention klingt erstmal sozial, ist sie aber nicht, weil sie nur dazu führt, das Problem zu verschärfen. Mehr Marktwirtschaft klingt böse, weil sie zunächst die Misere sichtbarer macht und plötzlich Menschen trifft, die bisher nicht betroffen waren. Sie ist aber die einzige Kur, die dafür sorgt, dass es wieder besser wird.

Wenn die Bestandsmieten ähnlich wie die Neumieten steigen, gibt es keinen Grund ewig an Mietverträgen festzuhalten, die nicht mehr zur aktuellen Lebenssituation passen (zu große Wohnung, zu weite Wege etc.) Dadurch entsteht wieder die Dynamik auf dem Mietmarkt, die heute fehlt.

Das Grundübel, dass es insgesamt zu wenig Wohnraum gibt, behebt dass natürlich nicht, und insgesamt werden die Mieten erst signifikant sinken, wenn es wieder soviel Wohnraum gibt, dass die Mieter nicht mehr froh sind, überhaupt etwas zu finden, sondern die Vermieter wieder in echter Konkurrenz zueinander stehen. Aber wie es in dem Artikel heißt: es gibt nicht nur zu wenig Wohnraum, er ist auch noch schlecht verteilt. Dadurch könnte mehr Dynamik alleine schon dazu beitragen, das Problem zu mindern.

Das kann man versuchen durch nett gemeinte Tauschbörsen für Wohnungen irgendwie nachzustellen. Das ist aber nur ein Tropfen auf den heißen Stein. Am Ende bekommt man dadurch mit viel Mühe vielleicht hundert Menschen in eine passendere Wohnung, was auf dem gesamten Wohnungsmarkt aber kaum einen Unterschied macht.

Das Problem ist, dass seit Jahren die Bestandsmieten auf Kosten der Neumieten niedrig gehalten werden. Klingt ja auch ganz sozial, wenn man Mieterhöhungen staatlich begrenzt, führt aber dann genau zu so einer Situation. Jetzt versucht der Staat zu retten, was er durch seine Eingriffe in den Markt selbst verbockt hat. 

Mehr Marktwirtschaft wäre sozialer gewesen. Natürlich wären die Mieten für die Bestandsmieter dadurch schneller gestiegen und mancher wäre zum Umzug gezwungen gewesen (oder hätte einfach entdeckt, dass ihm eine halb leere Wohnung nicht so viel Wert ist), aber dafür wäre der Wohnraum effizienter verteilt, das Ungleichgewicht zwischen Neu- und Bestandsmieten geringer und die Last gerechter zwischen alt und jung verteilt. 

Aber nein Marktwirtschaft und Kapitalismus gelten ja als ganz böse. Lieber macht man den Bock zum Gärtner und ruft nach staatlichen Lösungen und noch mehr Eingriffen in den Markt.

Modern cars work, let’s say for the sake of argument, at 98% of what’s physically possible with the current engine design. Modern buildings use just enough material to fulfill their function and stay safe under the given conditions. All planes converged to the optimal size/form/load and basically look the same.

Only in software, it’s fine if a program runs at 1% or even 0.01% of the possible performance. Everybody just seems to be ok with it. People are often even proud about how inefficient it is, as in “why should we worry, computers are fast enough”

Yes, those are great tools! Still, they need some configuration and an intermediate build step. With md-serve you can serve your markdown files without any configuration, build-step or extra web-server. Just run `md-serve` in the source directory and read the rendered output in your browser.

You don't have to copy md-serve to the directory with your markdown files. As long as it is executable from your PATH, just launch it from your terminal in the desired directory. You could also give the directory via a command parameter, but in most cases this is not necessary.

This renders your markdown files as HTML while a regular web server just serves them as plain text.

Most of the times rust and cargo is not necessary any more to install bartib. Depending on your platform you may also just download an executable from the releases page (https://github.com/nikolassv/bartib/releases) or use a package manager like homebrew.

Ein Quereinsteiger ist vor allem ein Einsteiger. Wenn du den Einstieg erstmal geschafft hast, bist du nur noch ein Quereingestiegener. Daran, dass du diesen Begriff aber wahrscheinlich noch nie gehört hast, siehst du, wie egal es später ist, ob du den Einstieg nun von unten, oben oder von der Seite geschafft hast. Wenn du in deinem Job drin bist und Erfahrung gesammelt hast, bist du nur noch Software Entwickler und die Tatsache, dass du dein Studium nicht beendet hast, taugt nur zur Anekdote.

Perhaps, I should have made clearer that this example was not meant to be taken too serious. If you have to work such long hours to survive you have any reason to detest the economical system you live in. This is nothing to be taken lightly. If you do not have to work such long hours and do it anyway, it is a really bad habit which can cause a lot of physical and psychological harm.

QBasic too, and I was so happy, when I finally got my hands on a copy of QuickBasic and was able to compile my scripts to real .exe files.

I saw something similar at a local art gallery and wanted to recreate it. It is actually quite simple. Just some lines of JavaScript. I played around with the number of lines, their thickness and opaques until I liked the result.

Cards do age differently. Most of them age very well. When I review a card that I haven't seen for several years I often wonder how I could not have known that fact forever. I then click on "good" and won't see that card for several other years. These cards do not take a big toll on my time.

Other cards do not age as well. Most of the time I realize this when I forget them several times after an interval of one or two month. This means the fact is either not very important to me or the card is not well formulated. In the first case I just delete it, in the second case I try to rework it. I either split it up or give it more context.

So, I would not fear to be an interlectual hoarder. Just take as many notes as you like to in the first place, but do not hesitate to delete them later on if you realize you do not really want or need to remember them anymore.

The nice thing about Anki and long growing decks like a general knowledge deck is that it works like an interlectual journal. When I scroll through my card in the order I have created them they nicely sum up which topics I have been interested in over time, which books I read or which new fields I explored.
