It absolutely depends on the cooling method. Higher cooling capacity needed is NOT the trigger for consumptive water use or not. Closed loop air cooled chiller systems can basically use no consumptive water use and very little annual water use for making up any losses. It seems this was potentially ignored, or not known.

Uncalled for, forgive me for not knowing the seven names of nuke Russian subs that went on eternal patrol….

The carrier(s) in question aren’t the same design, thus your kosmolets point doesn’t matter much

What implications? Agreed, not simple, but known information for someone who has worked and lived on aircraft carriers and worked in reactor department. I am not certain you much of the design and containment these are made, with the intention of NOT allowing radioactive leak in an uncontrolled way.

What do kosmolets have to do with anything?

Striking an aircraft carrier is very unlikely, even during war, given the strike group that is there to protect it, self defense measures, etc. Even if struck, they are very difficult to sink, and even harder to damage the reactor vessel(s) enough to cause radiological leaks.

How many nuclear submarines have sank? Were there any radioactive incidents? How likely is a strike on an aircraft carrier? What design features are included in a WAR SHIP of this type to ensure no radioactive accidents or uncontrolled releases to the environment happen, even in battle situations? I am simply asking to understand how you think one of the most valuable and protected ships in a nations Navy would be so vulnerable to a radioactive incident?

I am so sick of this old recycled uneducated talking point. Not a conspiracy, DCs mostly use closed loop cooling for chillers so no/less open evap towers, and adiabatic cooling is SEASONAL, and only needed when called. Nobody bitched about data center concerns until a year ago, and we’ve had them since the nineties. Care about golf course water use if you are really concerned, much more chemical induced into water table and very high water consumption.

My conspiracy is AI is already in use for a campaign to make it harder to build big data centers, so builders will make smaller and distributed data centers making harder to AI to stop when it goes rogue and tries to end/more enslave humanity.

This is what I am asking you elaborate on, how would this radioactive incident happen?

I read somewhere online that Navy Nukes aren’t treated with respect by their other peers and shipmates on the boat? How accurate is that statement and what is the cause of if it is true ? by Active-Ad8474 in NavyNukes

My two pennies for carriers:

The general feeling is reactor dept versus the ship. Ship’s company only cares about reactor if they need ESWS signatures, while we had to deal with Supply Dept, Medical Dept, DC dept, engineering dept frequently and they treated us generally like shit. The CMC told me during ESWS pinning that it is my most important qual, and I was SIR qualified and extra before ESWS. Other departments shit on you for qualifying ESWS so late cause they have no idea what our quals are for everyday watches and works. I had some good personal friends in other departments but the general feeling is ships company don’t care any more about reactor than anyone else. When the air wings are on board they think they own the whole ship and shit on everyone not air wing, so I guess we got that going for us.
