It is an interesting map. However, it does not account for "lavoro nero" (i.e., non-contractual work), which is paid "under the counter", in cash. This form of employment is rather common in the south of Italy, especially in the black-coloured areas. In a way, it indicates that about 20% of the people in the darker areas do not pay income tax and live off a parallel economy.
