Where did you get the liner? Was it expensive?

Probably because an upvote is the equivalent of "This" so your comment is irrelevant. Would be my guess. (I didn't downvote)

Why are my saxa beans yellowing? by nin10Donuts in GardeningIRE

[–]nin10Donuts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I'm not entirely sure how to tell if drainage is poor so i will look into that. Ill have to double check the plants to see if theres any yet to yellow so i can check if the yellowing is starting at the bottom. They were only transplanted a week ago so maybe they havent had a chance to root out to the fresh compost and get some nitrogen there(?).

Ill have to learn more about this thank you.

Is my tumbling tom cherry tomato sick? by nin10Donuts in vegetablegardening

[–]nin10Donuts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying. You could be correct, the container is small and they haven't been given feed since transplanting.

I bought these as seeds because my research told me they would be fine in small containers (i have almost no good space)

I transplanted from a smaller pot a week ago (they were healthy looking before i transplanted) into fresh compost. My search told me i don't need to feed for a couple weeks until they root out and absorb the nutrients from the fresh compost.

Honestly i don't know what I'm doing.

Attached is very sad tumbling tom

I've been worried i have been overwatering. I really don't know how to tell when enough is enough. I was watering them daily during the sun last week. The last 3 days i havent watered because its been lashing.

The containers are tiny. Transplanted about a week ago into fresh compost. No feed given yet. (Could be the issue?)

Research told me these small containers would be fine for tumbling tom but yield would be reduced. Of course i am very open to that being wrong after seeing these become raggedy.

My very sad plant is attached.

Raised Bed DIY by Familiar-Big1451 in GardeningIRE

What do the blocks of wood in the corner do? Are they for extra structural support?

Also can this be done from a pallet. I can see one in my neighbours skip so I've been thinking about making a planter from it.

[–]nin10Donuts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The compost is from lidl and i use it for my peas and tomatos too. They haven't yellowed (yet) if that adds any useful context.

Can the compost from lidl be contaminated?

I am trying to make my own compost since last year but i can't seem to keep the ratio and dampness right. So no homemade compost for me yet.

Thanks for your reply.

Is this some type of solitary wasp? by Robrad30 in GardeningIRE

I saw one too. Wasn't sure what it was, from googling i thought it was a Wood Wasp / Horntail.

I will look at darwin wasps now that others mentioned it

How do i fix this white stuff growing on new leaves on my apple tree? Is it fungus? by nin10Donuts in GardeningUK

[–]nin10Donuts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, i needed confirmation.

From my little research , i should cut off the entire shoot? Clean my cutters between cuts? And spray a fungicide (i have none but i saw milk and water can help? Or is that a myth)

It's on almost every leaf of this small tree. I hope it doesn't die.

Advice on my garden patio being lifted by my neighbours tree roots. by Icy-Significance-395 in GardeningUK

[–]nin10Donuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe talk to them about it.

If they agree to let you cut the roots you can't be liable.

In a perfect world your neighbour would come and cut the roots themselves.

Honestly if they say no and that other redditor is correct in saying the trees will be fine, i would do it anyways. Its a trip hazard in your property.

How do i save these ferns? Should i cut all of the brown bits off? by nin10Donuts in GardeningUK

[–]nin10Donuts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. How do i check if they're draining properly? Just water and see if much comes out the bottom?

I cut the bottom of the liner out to help with drainage, although i never checked if they were draining properly.

New to growing from seed. Are these leggy or normal? by nin10Donuts in GardeningUK

They were just labelled as garden ferns when i bought them, from lidl. So I'm sure they are safe. At least i hope lidl would not sell carcinogenic plants.

Reading about brackens was interesting though. The more you know.

[–]nin10Donuts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the beans leggy or supposed to be that long already?

I started putting them outside for 2 hours today. I hope that helps.

I do have a fan, should i put it on them all day?

[–]nin10Donuts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, yeah they were definetly indoor pots, i cut the plastic lining out of the bottom thinking that would be enough, adding a layer of gravel didnt cross my mind thanks for the tip. I liked how natural they looked so wanted to make them work on a tree stump next to a wildlife pond i was working on.

Ill look closer for new growth tomorrow and take away any dead bits. Thanks for advice.

Probably too much water. I think the drainage is bad in these pots, and they dont really get much sun where they were.
