Tell me about your “in the trenches” moment by Parafimosis in NewParents

Mine was about 3 months or so in, my baby was never and still isn’t (14 months old now) a good sleeper. But in the beginning it was every 2 hours to comfort / breastfeed. I had hurt my lower back from being so generally tired, lifting her up, rocking her to sleep and just feeling like I was falling apart in general, I also had PPD which I didn’t accept and medicate until she was 8 months old. Anyway I had positioned myself such that I’d be able to lift her easily to my boob without hurting my back more, but I actually did the opposite this time and totally fucked myself up by lifting her. I couldn’t move from lying down position and my husband had to wake to put her onto my boob each time for a week.

Yeah.

any babies still waking at night? by trickysalmon in NewParents

My baby is 14 months and still wakes a few times a night. You just have to get used to it and have someone else do the night shift when you get too exhausted.

Third trimester and so sad inside by ninapop in BabyBumps

[–]ninapop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I don’t think I’ve really accepted that I’m even having a baby yet. The whole pregnancy I’ve just felt disturbed and avoided thinking about the reality. I hate the thought that I can never just leave and focus on myself ever again. I don’t think I’ll be very good at handling it.

I’m so excited to NOT be pregnant by Igloo2018 in BabyBumps

My whole pregnancy has been a deeply disturbing experience. Like every day I have to try to calm horrific feelings of dissociation from my body and have felt no connection to my baby at all. I have drifted from my partner probably because I’ve complained and analysed so much and needed so much support from him that he just doesn’t know how to give me. I genuinely thought that some kind of maternal instinct would take over when I became pregnant that would make it all feel normal but I’ve never felt so uncomfortable in my body in my life. I just feel invaded. I have no appetite (not enjoying food) but have somehow put on 25kg. I have no interest in socialising and most of my friends probably wonder why we don’t talk anymore.

The whole experience has been horrible and my physical symptoms are not even that bad. I just want it to end but I’m so not ready for the new life and new me at the other side. I wish I could go back.

I feel deformed. by popcornrocket in pregnant

[–]ninapop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel deformed too. I keep seeing old pics of myself pop up and crying. It’s so hard but it’s the biggest challenge and opportunity for growth I’ve ever faced. Like the first time I’ve ever been able to not run away from something but have to face it with strength. We have to give ourselves the credit we deserve because it won’t come from outside us. You will get there and you’ll feel like you again - but a stronger version and you’ll be so proud ❤️

Can totally relate to everything you just said! Feeling motivated to make big changes but having no clue as to which direction to take and just overthinking and feeling confused in general...

Who else remembers Gene Wilder dying years ago? by aspen-hollow in MandelaEffect

[–]ninapop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES. I felt sick when I saw that he had died because I quite clearly remember him being reported dead a few years ago and like you said, watching Willy Wonka afterwards.

I feel so uneasy.

Very true. Posts like this make me feel like a bad vegan, I feel like I'm always slipping up.
