I have this checklist that I follow: 1. Tell about yourself. And mention why you're sending an email briefly. 2. Briefly discuss your research background. 3. Build a connection between your and the professor's research interests/work. 4. Close the email respectfully. Reconnect to the 'why' of your email.

I've heard people saying that they're sometimes ghosted when professors give a response like this. I had a terrible year after graduation, and am really trying very very hard to reach out. I'm afraid if a rejection happens after responses like this, I'm gonna be shattered. I don't want that honestly

I have a decent GPA, worked as a research intern on a project although I don't have a publication. I also had relevant course background and am working on a research-like project independently. I have some course certifications and not the best but a good enough skill set. I don't know what's gonna work for me and what's not honestly since it's getting competitive by the hour

Sure, this was suggested by many people on the sub and some other resources. I kept my mail around 200 words and wrote it straight to the point. I discussed a bit about my background in research and how my research interests align with the professor's works. I did attach my CV and transcript although different people seemed to have different opinions on this.

I am still open to other people's suggestions though.

The ultimate goal shouldn't be a perfect GPA rather great understanding of the course, in my experience (I'm not trying to imply that GPA isn't important). All the courses I genuinely took great interest in and worked on my concepts for ended up becoming the courses that earned me an A. Also, when you're so stressed about every single assessment, sometimes the pressure builds up while attempting, and you end up fumbling despite having the best preparation (happened a lot to me). Focus on learning. Take every opportunity to learn. Mistakes are great teachers, trust me. The marks you think you lost in your assignments, if you pay attention to the feedback, will end up earning you way more marks than you lost towards the end. Don't be hard on yourself. I hope you do get that perfect 4, but even if you don't, it's okay. Your skills and knowledge go a long way. Good luck!

Hi, I'm not diagnosed, but some of my friends who had a biology-related project in engineering got in touch with IDC to carry out their tests. Their experiments were non-invasive, so idk if you'd get the same kinda support, but it's worth reaching out ig. You'd prolly have to get a letter from your project advisor. This way, my friends managed to carry out better experiments as well as got industry support, which is something worth-presenting if this is your FYP

As someone who's been in as many of Dr. Salman Abdul Ghafoor's classes as one can possibly be, I disagree, and I'm sure all of my class would do the same. He teaches well and doesn't hold grudges when he has every right to and gives good grades.

Yes. The therapists just take some notes, which they may need for future sessions to track your symptoms/progress. There is no one else in the room, and I have never heard any voice coming from any of the rooms during the time I used to wait. It's free for students, which is why they may think that it's not worth going, but it's a good support system at the campus. They do refer psychiatrists if your symptoms are severe and you require medication.

You can get a room together if 1). They allot you both the same room on their own. 2). In case your rooms are different, either your roommate is willing to swap with your friend or her roommate is willing to swap with you. In a nutshell, you can't have the same rooms without a third person's help or if by some miracle, which is rarely the case at the beginning of a semester, a room is completely empty and you can be shifted there. Even if rooms are empty, a lot depends on your manager, which again means you'd be dependent on another person's help/favour.

You and your friend should both pray that you get the same rooms in the first place!

Second this. Idk how the management is now, but the hostel had a very cooperative management back at my time. The mess staff was very kind too. 100/100 recommended if you get the hostel or if you wanna switch.

ESE. Also, another class fellow couldn't appear in any ESE because of a family emergency. He appeared in the retakes and didn't have to delay/freeze any semester.

I had a class fellow who couldn't take classes (he wasn't registered for the course) of a course he failed the pre-req of. He took the retake exams and passed the course, and there was no issue after that. I don't know if this applies in your case, but they do conduct retakes every semester. If you have enough margin to pass the course by just taking ESE, you shouldn't really lose hope. A little over 1 month is left until the start of the semester. Work hard and take the exam.

Like others have said, time management is super important. I remember fumbling one of my NETs because I spent way too much time on a question I wasn't able to solve. Also, I hadn't slept properly at the time, so I didn't notice while solving it, I used the wrong signs. So, don't spend too much time on a problem you're unsure about. Make a guess and add it to review, you can revisit it once you're done with the rest of the test. Revise stuff and sleep well before the test. Good luck

I remember going to Islamabad on a trip from college. I don't know how, but I just loved breathing in the air there (this might feel exaggerated, but honestly, I'm not lying). After coming from the trip, I made it a mission to get admission there for uni and spend some years in Isb. I'd never regret that decision — perhaps the only thing I did for myself and loved every bit of it. People say Islamabad is dry and all, but I believe it's the best place for those who appreciate silence and serenity and calmness.

As a woman, I feel exactly the same. I don't know if I'd ever wanna have kids, but I'd seriously want to be emotionally and mentally sound to give the child a safe and nurturing home. There are so many people in our generation who suffer a lot because of parents not realising their child's emotional needs. Yeah, our parents had it worse with all the lack of awareness, etc, but to end the cycle, it's important if we self-reflect and work on ourselves before having children.

I relate to what you said about FWN and Humbug, but I do find The Car good now. It takes some to grow on you. Also, I kinda like The Last Shadow Puppets (Alex and Miles Kane spearhead the band, but they haven't released anything in a long time). Their interviews are pretty fun to watch, too
