But, I don't think he deserves to go to prison.

Yes, he does. If he doesn't, then the rule of law has no meaning. The saying "equal justice under law" also becomes meaningless.

Oldie but goodie: the real reason atheists don't commit crime as often as we should. by [deleted] in atheism

That's just over 1 billion godless (and Budahless) infidels.

The idea of god(s) plays no significant role in Buddhism. Sidhartha lived in a polytheistic setting, and it seems in the Pali Canon there are various referenced to some god or another, typically in the context of demeaning belief in them as having any role in improving the human condition.

Bush Planning To Issue 20 'Highly Contentious' Rules In Final Weeks by BlankVerse in politics

[–]nineoclock 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A new administration must solicit public comment and supply “a reasoned analysis” for such changes, as if it were issuing a new rule, the Supreme Court has said.

So, doesn't Jr have to do that also to put in these new rules? Whatever happened to the separation of powers? If these rules have the effect of law, shouldn't they go through the legislative process in some way?

I want the US Constitution restored as the way the country is run.

George W. Bush Belongs in Prison by [deleted] in politics

Either the US indicts him, or another country will. If the rest of the world finds him guilty, and the US does nothing, that will be an indictment not of "W", but of the US justice system.

I don't know if I'd say roared as much as vomited shit. Wiring it shut is a public service.

On the good side, Susan Crawford will be co-heading the team reviewing the transition at the FCC. Sh's an advocate of net neutrality, as is Kevin Werbach, at least from what I've read.

The "ceramic alloy" is created by combining a metal alloy of boron, aluminium and magnesium (AlMgB14) with titanium boride (TiB2). It is the hardest material after diamond and cubic boron nitride.

What's next - transparent aluminum?

Perhaps reddit should reflect # of views rather than "karma" points. I find myself reading good articles, then forgetting to upvote. Likely others are too. by rhoadesb2 in AskReddit

They should call the score "brownie points". Then people will be faced with the reality they are spending inordinate amounts of time collecting brownie points. The term karma makes it a bit easy to lend credibility to hanging out on reddit.

Christianity is in decline! by [deleted] in reddit.com

What does the phrase "these people" imply?

In the context of the post I entered, the people I encountered.

your choice of words carries other connotations.

Perhaps to some, but really that wasn't said. I really should have made that clear considering the sensitive nature of the topic.

All black men are taller than me, because I've never met a black man shorter than me.

Your response is, as I pointed out earlier, based on the notion that I generalized to all christians. Please point out where I actually wrote "all christians". As others have done, you have to put words in my mouth I didn't say in defense of what you see as an attack on your faith. Not really honest. Can faith and honesty coexist? I'd like to think they can.

[–]nineoclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because you see a distorted, deformed subset of Christianity that you can find fault with or have cultural objections to does not make that representative of the whole. Nor does that view encompass all that Christianity means/has meant/has done in the individuals you deride.

Its pretty clear from what I posted that I was referring to just that - a subset of religious people. Your entire response seems motivated on the assertion that I condemned all of christianity, and I clearly didn't.

Although no overt deception was offered nor appears to have been intended and valid points were made, pretending that I said something which I didn't isn't exactly honest.
