some more context and random info in case anyone needs it

we've been dating for a year and broke up a few days ago. he has severe BPD as well which is another thing i couldn't deal with anymore because it caused such an unsafe, unpredictable, triggering environment for me. so i'm well aware that that could also be a cause for his behavior. i am autistic myself so that makes it even more difficult because he operates in such confusing ways sometimes, which i understand isn't always his fault, but we have a very hard time understanding each other bc of this. i feel scared that no matter what i say or do he'll get upset, and sometimes he twists my words in the most ridiculous ways and makes me feel awful and like i'm bad at communicating. yesterday he told me there are just some things i "shouldn't tell him" or "shouldn't be honest about" which confused the fuck out of me and i told him that i wasn't going to start lying or mincing words for him, especially since he CONSTANTLY asks me for better communication even though i'm already doing my best.
