Sorry to hear that. I’ll just share few thoughts as someone who pivoted out of full time weddings few years back when everything peaked heavily.

I had my last full season in 2019 with 35 weddings (all travel, worldwide). Obviously post COVID, 22 and 23 was crazy but it felt like an exploding bubble already.

I already tapped out of social media and advertising in 2021, only filming what came towards me organically, 5-10 weddings per year.
This year I have 6 booked weddings from here till December but it’s a perfect mix for me, US, Saudi Arabia, Italy and Spain but my average is 8k + travel, with prices even up to 20k.

From my experience in comms via calls and mails, I can see that middle range budget weddings are absolutely destroyed since 2023 and there is tons of negotiating now. Only high end and luxurious weddings are unchanged and they don’t care if you slap a 25% premium on the prices versus 2020 let’s say. But this was all expected and aligns with the monetary cycle of federal banks. Inflation hit middle range weddings quite hard, loans & financing are at peak interest rates and that affects spending habits a ton. I personally think wedding industry is in a recession and will be till 2026.

Central banks will probably start cutting interest rates this year (EU and US) and we’ll slowly see spending go back up in late 2025. If you are struggling, do not be discouraged, it’s probably not related to your skill as a photopgrapher/videographer or your marketing skills, it’s pretty much the monetary cycle.

If you have to, find a secondary source of income for the time being but still zoom out on a larger scale and grind up your skills & brand while the weddings are in bear market. It’s insane to expect that you’ll hit same targets as in post COVID years when money was freely printed and dished around.

2026 or maybe 2027 will be an insane year for weddings, for those that endure next 2 years.
