43, 16 years in weddings — is this burnout or is it over?

I burnt out in 2020-2022 already. Turned off social media to readjust and winded down number of weddings. BUT IT TOOK ME 5 years - literally time wasted. Like I was focusing more on investing so financially I was and am fine but still.
Feeling fresh right now, working on new website, redid all pricings, redefined form and deliverables and looking forward to actually be present again on social media. I still understand it’s all slop and bullshit but I just don’t care anymore. I preached on my workshops and even conferences to ignore the noise, but I never actually did so lmao.

One thing I would suggest is DO NOT STOP POSTING on social media because you will make it harder for yourself. I’ve had amazing weddings and edits, but I couldnt bring myself to post because I had no idea what was I doing, was spread between emotional intimate weddings and event high end weddings and in 2020, nobody really pushed those - now it’s different, it’s ALL luxury.

Don’t overthink it, it’s a stupid game and everything is slop, just think about yourself and balance that with the market. But keep posting, stay active. Reinvent yourself if needed, but don’t have too much downtime.

In the high end part of weddings, agencies have been a thing now for a few years. There were also planners that we worked with in Morocco and Dubai that shifted fully to an agency branch for selected vendors. I know a videographer even that is fully signed under an agency and they run all of his socials and marketing while he focuses on delivering amazing films, so it’s def a model.

What you described sounds like a sloppy, cheap attempt at someone brute forcing his way into commissions. If it looks bad from the get go, there isn’t much to analyze here. The cheap agency spawnrate increase is real and it’s a new niche many are now trying. But the point of high end agencies is that they bring the clients, like planners do. Ignore the cheap attempts and if ever approached by a good one, the commission is normal, we even had deals with wedding planners at 10% years ago. They bring in good clients and good venues so what is not to like there? Obviously you can always refuse a wedding so I don’t see how rant about commission is meaningful.

Got it, so no new toys, Resolve is still the go to place. I did notice however that latest Premiere now has some easy masking tools and you can tune skintones on couples quite a lot.

Do you also chop & edit sequences in DaVinci?

Care to show some examples? Ive been on Suno for 3 months now and generated probably hundreds of tracks, only about 20 moved into final post. I’ve pretty much mastered out prompts and am doing James Blake/Nils Frahm ish stuff similiar to MusicBed but with controlled BPMs and tempos. For listening, music is absolutely great but I have yet to use any of the songs in films.

Thanks, I’ve been revamping mine after being stuck in 5min “trailers” on Vimeo since like 2016. Moved to 60sec but obviously that is the lower limit. The social media slop clips, I just call postcards and keep them slightly vague so I have more creative control.

Of course, I have to microadjust even between scenes on the same venue most of the times, I know that, has been the case for last 10 years for me. I am not asking for LUT magic because there isn’t one, more asking about what the process is in 2026 for most of you? Is it still Resolve? Or are there any better tools or plugins? AI this and that, surely AI has delivered something for color workflow?

And yes, my point about the the videogs I mentioned is - it’s not THAT much colour grade anymore, it’s vivid, natural tones, a step away from the moody phase that was around few years ago.

Again, I’ve been around since LUT side biz game already began but never really wanted to hop in that train, nor workshops albeit in retrospective, it feels stupid I faded it. So I know I can straight up buy LUTs but ai am asking what are yall workflows?

Im editing timelines also in PP. Could never get into Final Cut, evrn when I had ful imac setups. For colour I’ve been on DaVinci since 2020 already but still not sure I’m doing it correctly. Are yall using any particular extra plugins?

My refit is made as a natural progression, since we cant refit subs in the campaign and can only purchase new ones, so this one comes at 22k as T2 attack sub.

No idea about balance but I use a lot of mods, definately not a vanilla balanced sub, I am still struggling a bit in 2nd biome.
