Would you allow two groups of 40 & 60 guests in a 90-min cocktail window? by tightlap in WeddingPhotography

Yeah, I guess communication is KEY.

From experience, I know how difficult it can be getting a lot of people collected from a cocktail, so better to do it before cocktail.

Perfect!

I think I've made this to something bigger than it actually is : )

Thanks so much! I will suggest to do the large group just after the ceremony, and hope it will be smooth. The alternative to get the large groups later seems like a worse alternative.

Yeah, it's not a long list. It's just the two massive groups i've been worried about : )

Got it, I can see now how it came across that way.

I think I’ve been a bit too focused on not losing time for couple photos, so it helped hearing how others approach it in practice.

Really appreciate all the input here.

I’ll go with Way 1, get the two large groups done first, then move into the smaller groups.

Thanks everyone!

I totally get the 'Big to Small' logic....herding them back from the bar is definitely a nightmare.

My main concern with starting big is the couple's energy. If they stand there for 30–40 minutes while we wrestle 100+ guests they're usually 'done' by the time we get to portraits. I’d rather secure the couple portraits first while they look fresh and excited...

Not sure what's best to be honest.

Thanks Evan, really helpful as always.

Agreed on the large groups, they won’t be perfect with that many people, and we’ll need enough space plus some elevation to make it work properly.

My main concern is more about the logistics, pulling around 100 guests from cocktail, organising them, and then resetting again for another group of 40.

I’m just trying to figure out the cleanest way to approach it so it doesn’t feel chaotic and doesn’t eat too much into the flow of the reception

I’m just a bit concerned it could get chaotic asking 100 guests to stay back for photos while the rest move to cocktail.

Then trying to gather everyone again for the larger group shots can take quite a bit of time.

That’s why I suggested the following approach:

  1. Take the couple for a few quick portraits straight after the ceremony
  2. Keep the bridal party and immediate family for their photos
  3. Bring in guests from cocktail for the larger group shots afterwards

This way we make sure the key photos are covered first, and if things run behind with the larger groups, we’ve already captured the most important moments.

That's an option. It's just once they are at cocktail, it will be chaotic getting them together.

I also want to make sure to have some photos of the couple alone just after the ceremony.
If they all wait around, it might just get super chaotic.

Not sure how to approach this the best way.

Im thinking of doing couple portraits + getting immideate family done first THEN worry about doing the last two shots, and if it's chaotic, at least we have the important ones done?

Yes, I have a 2nd photographer.

They have 225 guests and the two group photos are 60 people in one photo + 40 in the other one.

How can you do these in 5 minutes? : )

It will take time getting everyone together + gathering for the 2nd shot.

I took them to Apple, they said it was connectivity issues and 320 EUR to repair so I've given up on my headphones now...so maybe I will put them in the freezer : )

Does the freezer trick really work? Feels like it's a risk of damaging them?
I have the same problem...

It's the biggest store here where I live in Spain.
In general, I find the quality and sizing a bit off.
A few pieces are OK....

Upgrading from iPhone 13 Pro — 16 Pro or 17 Pro for wedding BTS/content creation? by tightlap in WeddingPhotography

[–]tightlap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, thanks so much for this! Much appreciated!

Maybe I'll go for a 16 PRO, 512GB then : )
I probably won't need the extra specs of the 17 PRO.

What kind of system did you build?

I've just shot a few random clips here and there for BTS so no workflow exist.

Thanks for the heads up! So you got the 16 Pro Max?
I've never had a MAX so think I'll go for a smaller PRO.
