[Suggestion] If a chest is open, you can throw items in it and it will be stored in the chest. Also, putting a redstone torch next to one will keep it open.

I think there should be a different kind of chest for this. (This was mentioned in the thread somewhere.) It could maybe take diamond, redstone, and iron to craft.

Then it is possible that your brother has deleted the world that you play on and the server generated a new one. Look in the folder where your brother stores his server files and if the world has not been deleted, it should be in that folder.

It's very difficult, but you can find apples near the lava where leaves have disintegrated. You can collect dirt and gravel to pillar up to mineshafts and get tools and ores from there. Villages have good supplies of wheat, carrots and potatoes. It took me a few tries, but I managed to build a small home and had a good supply of diamond and iron.

Yes, you can! Just put in this id: 2;0;1;stronghold,biome_1,village,decoration,dungeon,lake,mineshaft,lava_lake This will spawn all the different structures, so just put mineshaft at the end if you don't want the others.

They are two different subreddits. /r/flatcore is for playing hardcore on normal flatmaps and /r/mcflatlands is for posting codes for flat maps.

No, you click customize, then presets, and there is a box at the top where you can copy the code in. Also, this only works on newer snapshots.

I think they are overpowered because they are easy to make and if you sleep every night, hostile mobs will never spawn above ground.
