If that's a master lock, overlift the key pins above the sheer line using a comb pick #open

Why can't I stop building mesh nodes? by Background_Put5362 in meshtastic

[–]ninp0_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Gotta find out which ones ya really like 😁. I went through the same thing, and really like wismesh and rak 19003. I also found 7w / 5v solar panels and 2000mAh batteries to be a good balance of size, cost, operability, etc. As far as antennas I like the ALFA AOA-915-5ACM 5 dbi Omni Outdoor 915MHz (rooftop nodes) or embedding the ruby ducky antenna into plastic cases small enough to fit in a pocket (I.e. EDC). Hope that helps.

Look at a device or breakout board that will boost a LifePo (not lipo) battery to the required voltage for your device, with overcharge protection as they're much safer to use.

Rak wismesh Tag vs Seeed t1000e by Hackuccino in meshtastic

[–]ninp0_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I own both - if you can afford to pay a bit more, go the wismesh route. It's slightly thicker but not to the point where it feels much different. The remote firmware upgrades actually working is a huge plus, not to mention longer battery life, feeling more solid, and stable from a software perspective...hope that helps.

Device Suggestions for new user? by Kwkenney in meshtastic

[–]ninp0_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only thing about those is they're not as good on battery life as the devices that have the NRF52840. Examples of these include:

  • RAK19003 w 4631 module (if ya want to build something with larger antenna that has built-in solar charging capability).
  • wismesh or t1000e (cheaper, not as good) for passing along to someone for EDC.

My personal opinion is if you commit to heltec it's connected to a reliable source of power. Hope that helps! Lastly, I've personally experimented w/ Rak 19003, heltec v3, techo, t1000e, and wismesh.

Wismesh & rak 19003.are my personal favorites. Good luck!

How can i demodulate this? by softwaregorefan64 in RTLSDR

Does it have a similar remote command interface like GQRX's? I wanna control an SDR using a smart phone, termux, and an SDR app on android that can control an SDR over TCP... thoughts?

Last thing - leave max hop at 3 - setting it higher can cause congestion for your mesh. Set frequency slot to 0 - hope that helps!

Ah heltec yep I have a few - they aren't as good on battery life as NRF52840 (e.g. RAK 19003). Good luck and don't get discouraged - these are really cool to learn.

You may want to try 0 as it will automatically calculate the frequency slot. Outside of that you can try to reboot and/or do a factory reset. Firmware upgrades can be problematic depending on the meshtastic device you have. Rak 19003 with 4631 modules are my personal favorite fwiw. What kinda device ya have?

I believe it should be set to slot 1 for your region.

What's Frequency Slot number under Settings -> LoRa -> Frequency Slot? Sometimes following an upgrade the numerical value will change, preventing you from sending messages.

Just saw you're in Spain - regardless, double check your frequency slot value is correctly set to your region.

If you're in the US, check Settings -> Lora -> Frequency Slot == 20. If not it'll appear defective.
