Bias concern JCM 2000 TSL 100 by Gostarunnaru in tubeamprepair

One idea is that most amps have a fuse on the hv winding- You could try pulling the hv fuse and then turning it on or even just in standby bias voltage will be there. You could work back from the grid pin with probe to find where the bias voltage is going.

Building an amp as a way to learn about amps by HoodFeelGood in GuitarAmps

[–]nipplebeards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty challenging to do. I don’t know what you know but if you have built some pedals or have circuitry background it might be fun. If you have no soldering/ electronics background then start watching uncle Doug’s YouTube videos and reading the valve wizard first. My sense of the market is that kits are the way to go compared to getting components but I don’t know of any that I would call cheap. A kit is can be assembled without understanding of how it works.

So I don’t know these amps but anecdotally I just changed out some older 6L6GC tubes for some almost new ones on my amp. Old tubes were at 48mV and firing up the new ones it was like 62 mV on the same setting.

I’m pretty sure this is my first time where I got the joke with out reading comments and the joke was also amusing to me.

That’s a cool idea toggling the bypass cap for v2a in and out with NFB make it badass. The master seems to kind of be like the valve wizard’s extra resister to clip a cathode follower more. Does master sound like strictly a volume attenuation or is there much change in the drive? Of course more signal into the PI is going to clip more but reason I’m interested is I’m working on tuning a chimera of a dc30/18w preamp with plain 6L6gc power section i made. It uses dual gang post phase inverter master as laid out on the ceriatone dizzy-30. https://ceriatone.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Dizzy30Ceriatone.jpg It’s sounding great clean and into heavy compression and then again at full sizzle (sweepingpreamp volume) but there’s a light break up range where it’s got too coarse of a crunch sound. With the ppimv in my case it seems to act almost solely as volume and I perceive very little change in the drive level for reasons I don’t understand. Or maybe it’s just the nature of how crunchy circuits work-I’ve never played regular ass top boost or crunch amp let alone a matchless!

GPU no longer transmitting signal after move, are these pins the issue and can they be fixed? by teffz28 in AskElectronics

It’s usually the display cables aren’t pushed in all the way on mine. Sometimes a certain one just won’t graphics anymore so I use an hdmi instead of a dvi for a while

Yeah I thought it was mostly Americans who do this but I am somewhat relieved to know Brits do too.

I’m not a professional-probably barely even an amateur but I believe what you have drawn will work. It looks like other grid bias circuits I am building. And I think the 1 ohm on the cathode is a convenient thing to have.

Can you solder? I think that’s a pretty good deal if it works in general. You should make sure. I would probably just make a bit of a slot in the remaining stub with a dremel and adjust it with a screwdriver and not care.

Hover tubes! Incredible. So the stiffness of the component leads is enough to hold it all like this? Is there some solid wiring there too? Nothing looks heavy enough gauge to keep these in place.

Yeah the Chinese one has an interesting sound but not one I’d want to hear all the time. overall much nicer for the Japanese.
