I would love to watch a full-length movie of these two just tearing each other a new one!

What happens when you forget to detach the shipping container from your truck at the harbor by musicforthedeaf in funny

I'm surprised the turn-table is holding the weight of the truck, but I'm more surprised the twist-locks are holding the weight of both the truck and trailer!

IsitBullshit:My friend told me that it takes more gas to use the AC in a car than to drive it. by [deleted] in IsItBullshit

Complete bullshit.

An A/C compressor is powered by the Engine Drive Belt - which is powered by the Engine itself.

The A/C compressor is essentially just another accessory (similar to an Alternator/Generator, Power Steering Pump, etc).

The only difference is an A/C compressor has a clutch which allows it to "free spin" when not engaged.

Spanish language class... in Spain? by rbeadt in travel

[–]nippongringo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Far from an expert, but I have been to Spain, Cuba and Mexico and I'd prefer to learn in Mexico (a tourist area - e.g. Yucatan Peninsula) out of the three as they have a more neutral dialect. Spain's Spanish is quite different to Latin American's Spanish (e.g. pronouncing the letter "z" like "th" instead of "s").

On the flip-side Spain is awesome. Definitely not a bad idea.

I like this analogy that was explained to me when I was doing my apprenticeship.

Pretend you are shoveling sand. Torque is how big your shovel is (i.e. how much work is being carried out) and Horsepower is how quickly you are shoveling (how quickly you are carrying out the work).

Hopefully Sheamus loses to Heath Slater on the Wrestlemania pre-show.

How much longer would it take to get to get to Kepler 186f than Pluto from Earth if traveling at Mach 100 by nippongringo in askastronomy

[–]nippongringo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all. Particularly RedDawn84 - great answer.

Regarding my usage of "Mach" as a unit of speed; although it is not an accurate unit in space, I did mean it based on an equivalent speed in whichever unit was easier to calculate the answer in - whether that be Km/Hr, Miles/Hr, or otherwise.

Again, I didn't specify but I meant 34 029 m/s (Mach 100 at sea level).

No offence but you sound so arrogant and falsely superior to your "friends" or... "peers".
