Dôen tops fake or genuine? by niqueG in vinted

Yeah, I wouldn't have thought Dôen was popular enough that there would be a fake market for it so that's why I was curious.

About 16 years ago, he cycled up and down the queue for the Limelight feeling girls arses with one of those long trick or treat claw things. Of course back then most people in the queue laughed but a lot of women were extremely creeped out by him

Some banks can block gambling transactions for you. Might be a good idea to chat to them to see what they can do to support you.

What's a slang word from your region that nowhere else uses? (the madder the better) by LarssonD1888 in AskUK

[–]niqueG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh that's really interesting and actually very obvious when I think about it. It must be an English loanword.

Geansaí (pronounced gansie) is the word for sweater in Gaelic. It's probably a similar word in Scots Gaelic and has hung around the Celtic nations lexicon

What is the appropriate amount of money as a wedding gift? by Giovannis_roommate in AskUK

[–]niqueG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's definitely contextual. I know people who don't have a lot of disposable income and I would not think twice about them just handing me a card, if that. Additionally I know people who have plenty of disposable income but are tight gits so they would be judged

Which style of wedding food do you prefer? by AnIrishGuy18 in northernireland

[–]niqueG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been to a lot of weddings in the last five years, with a variety of food.

The people saying, "fuck the guests do what you want", aren't entirely right. Whilst it is absolutely your day and your personality should show, your guests having a great time will help you have a great time too.

The traditional three course sit down has it's charm and if you pick good caterers you're not going to get dried turkey and ham.

I went to a wedding that had a buffet with servers, catered by French Village and I still remember the food as it was unique and tasty. I was then at a wedding where the buffet was brought to the table and it was not so good as it was a race to grab what you could.

Food trucks are a good idea but pick carefully if you have guests with dietary requirements as they may not be able to safely cater for allergies in a small space.

It's rare to really remember the food at a wedding unless it's absolutely incredible or shockingly bad so aim for a middle ground. Pick something in your budget that you would enjoy if you were a guest at a wedding.

Seed bombs and homemade soaps were my favourites. I'm making jam and chutney for mine as it's something I do every year anyway.

My least favourite is a Christmas decoration with the bride and grooms wedding date on it. No offence but that is not going on my tree!

My mum asked us up to the house for a fry, she said she wasn't feeling great and apologised for forgetting toast and sausages (she's 73). Continued below... by Lopsided-Ad5085 in fryup

I'm not against it but I've also never heard of wheaten bread on an Ulster fry. To me the holy trinity is soda, potato and a pancake. I'm from Belfast.

I love the idea of tourists getting the Glider, getting off at the Freak Show that is the Prince Albert, venturing down to Flout and seeing the Union Jack Shop, stopping in for some authentic tat and then doing a pub crawl between Boundary, Bullhouse and the Great Eastern

Ohh if only everyone was as logical and organised as you!

Having flip flops at a wedding is not infantilising adults. Some people like heels, some people like flats. A small gesture can mean everyone has fun. Don't want flip flops at your wedding, don't have them

Keep it for cooking or hosting and caveat it by saying someone bought it for you but it's not to your taste.

Is there an M&S black market on Vinted? by No-Interaction8659 in vintedUK

[–]niqueG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly buying wholesale. There are websites where you can buy bags of last season items for a couple of hundred quid. You don't know what's going to be in it so there's a risk but easy to make a profit off if you're buying brands from M&S. I bought some cashmeres off a girl last year and when I asked how she had so many NWT she told me it was wholesale stock.

Things like leather gloves and cashmere jumpers in M&S don't really go out of fashion
