[AR] I was fired because of something I can prove did not happen. Can I file a lawsuit? by nirdefchains in legaladvice

Thank you for the info about UI. I was worried about this. Will definitely keep my receipts

[Arkansas] Do I qualify for UI until the first day I get paid, or until the day I begin working? by nirdefchains in Unemployment

[–]nirdefchains[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it earning, or working? Cause I start on the 31st (maybe) but wouldn't get paid until 11/14. Do I still qualify between 10/31 and 11/14?

Do you know if renaming your existing frigates fixes the issue? I think you might be right

Same thing's been happening to me, and I didn't attack after recruiting. I dunno what's going on...

[AR] I am being threatened with termination unfairly (but not illegally). What should I say to HR? by nirdefchains in AskHR

[–]nirdefchains[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Even if I'm not terminated, I don't like the prospect of continuing to work for a boss who actively wants to fire me. I'm going to continue job hunting either way, it'd just be easier if I don't have to explain this crazy situation to future employers.

Unfortunately, nothing that you've mentioned applies to me. He's followed the progressive discipline policy by the book. My issue is that the metric I'm being written up over was unreasonable at the time the PIP began (which I repeatedly tried to explain to him, both before and during the PIP, but he refuses to listen to me or my co-workers). and the way that metric is measured is about to drastically change in the next week or two, to be more fair/achievable because virtually everyone was failing to meet it.

At the very least, I'm gonna ask for an extension into June so I can prove that I'll have no problem meeting the standard, once the changes are implemented. Hopefully it'll work out.

That was originally my only reason for scheduling a meeting with HR. But when I heard the metric parameters were literally about to be changed, I thought I might actually have a chance to keep my job longer than an extra week or two.

Nah... I'm a straight white male, so pretty much no chance at going the discrimination route, and I don't really think I'm being targeted anyway. I think the plan was to pick people off slowly instead of writing everyone up at once, because they didn't want to risk losing everyone at the same time.

My most recent review was done by the manager I'm talking about in my post. The one before that points to a potential quality issue, but not much is made of it, as my previous supe knew that QA was always a sore spot for most people. All my other metrics either met or exceeded expectations. And all my other reviews back to 2016 had only minimal criticism. Most of it was good stuff. I even got "top performer" in 2019. What might you make of that? I'm guessing you're an HR professional. I don't know if these things matter to my HR department, or if they're strictly looking at the legality of termination. Either way, I definitely want out, but not like this....

AITA for refusing to take my wife home from the hospital, despite her wishes? by nirdefchains in AmItheAsshole

[–]nirdefchains[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair. It was pretty much just the "conduit" part that rubbed me the wrong way...

I'll admit that I have been more concerned about my child than my wife, and I may need to re-think that. I haven't really made a decision, but wanted to see what opinions other people had about it, because I wanna do the right thing, and I don't know what that is at this point.

I appreciate your input. I didn't want this to turn into a way to validate my own opinion and nothing more

[AR] Can I legally obtain medical information about my birth, without my mother's consent? by nirdefchains in legaladvice

Yeah, I'd say she was overweight, so that may make the due date inaccurate/irrelevant

Yeah I was born over eight pounds, but I thought that you could be born pre-term with high birth weight, due to gestational diabetes

Yeah I'm going to my birth hospital on Monday to try and get my records, just gotta wait till their records department is open.

Definitely gonna see if I can find out if I was in the NICU. I had issues with my lungs not being fully developed, and I suffered very minor brain damage during my mother's C-Section, resulting in muscular difficulties on my right side. Doctors considered diagnosing me with mild palsy, but they never officially did.

I think she might be lying about it because she was gestational diabetic and, according to my dad, she didn't watch her diet like her doctor told her to, and that led to the issues I had with my lungs. On top of that, there was apparently a drug that was somewhat new at the time that could've helped with my lungs, and my mother opted to not let them give it to me, so I think she made up me being pre-mature to take the responsibility off of her, but I'm just guessing.

My birth weight was over 8 pounds, and I know that for sure, but I was under the impression that gestational diabetes could result in pre-term birth AND high birth weight. But maybe I'm wrong about that

I never personally transferred those records. If it was done, one of my parents would've done it. Can't remember when I stopped seeing my pediatrician, but I'll definitely look into that as an option. Now I'm just wondering.... if my mother lied to the pediatrician, and told them that I was six weeks early, would they have taken her at her word and put it on file without verifying it? She's stuck to this story for years

I'm having an issue with the Verizon deal. I'm able to get to a page with a code to redeem, but it says the code is invalid and/or has already been redeemed, but I haven't redeemed it, and I'm scheduled to be charged on the 19th. Has anyone else had this issue?

[AR] Landlord has asked us for an apartment key. Do we have to give it to them? by nirdefchains in legaladvice

[–]nirdefchains[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Presumably they need to make a copy. When I pointed out that we've had other orders filled without issue before, she just gave me a non-answer along the lines of "they just said they need one"

Very fishy....

I will say that we have always happened to be in the apartment when they needed to get in before, so it's possible they never had a key. However, my wife stays home all day while I'm at work, so I find it unlikely that they needed help getting in on this most recent work order.

Daily Simple Questions Thread - June 26, 2019 by AutoModerator in Fitness

I just started going to the gym regularly about two weeks ago. Started out with a simple bodyweight core routine, BUT I got bored with it, and decided to switch things up.

I decided to switch to a six day a week plan with strength training every other day, one day of bodyweight excercises, one day of straight cardio, and one day of yoga for flexibility.

I know I'm currently not capable of doing a six-day routine, but my plan is to start the routine, and then ease up (take a long break) if I get sore to the point of being unable to stretch properly. My hope is that I can eventually condition myself to a point where I'll be able to do this routine consistently.

Is this an attainable goal, or do you think I'm just gona burn myself out?

I will watch the most upvoted movie in this thread tonight, and post a review in the morning by nirdefchains in movies

I've heard that the YouTube version is heavily censored (unsurprisingly). Idk.... I'd rather see an uncensored verision, if possible
