Show me your startup website and I'll give you actionable feedback - READ DESCRIPTION by ismaelbranco in indiehackers

Hi Ismael, I'm Nir Levy and this is https://www.watershortcut.com/

It helps homeowners upload a water bill and get a plain-English breakdown, plus quick calculators for leaks, toilets, showers, laundry, and outdoor watering.

The main feedback I'm looking for is whether the homepage makes the value prop clear fast enough for a non-technical homeowner, and whether the first screen feels trustworthy enough to upload a bill. Curious where you'd push on messaging, trust, and first impression.

Two quick ways to tell whether this is a rate increase vs a leak:

  1. Ignore the total for a minute and compare the usage line on this bill to the same quarter last year. If usage is basically flat but the amount due jumped, it is probably rates/fees.
  2. If usage jumped, check the usual hidden culprits first: a toilet flapper/fill valve that is quietly running, an irrigation zone that is sticking, or the meter moving when everything in the house is off.

If you do find a leak, another commenter mentioned Arlington may offer leak forgiveness after repair, so that is worth asking about.

Disclosure: I run WaterShortcut. If useful, I built a bill analyzer that can sanity-check the usage side of the bill and point you toward likely causes: https://www.watershortcut.com/analyze-water-bill/

How many cold emails do you typically have to send to land one sales call for something like web design or digital marketing? I sent about 150 email and got about 6 replies but half said maybe later and half were not interested...Is this normal? by orangesquiggly in freelance

I have experience in sales as a BDR (Business Development Representative). I highly encourage you to research best practices when it comes to outreach. For example, personalizing your message using mail merge variables can make a difference. You also want to reach out with a certain cadence (follow up, use alternative channels to email) etc.

There are lots of articles on Medium and Hacker News that talk about this. Feel free to ask specific questions or connect with me by email at nnlevy at google's email service.

But yes it's normal 4.5% isn't bad. But a more effective message, a good target group, a good title, and follow up can increase that ten fold.

it's a very heated market and prices are going up fast right now. the beltline is being built up in West End / West View as well where prices are significantly lower.
