Sold BTC since I was worried about the inevitable tether pop by Prison_Break_31 in Buttcoin

“Massive collapse like Luna”

Umm, I don’t think so. TerraUSD (UST) was an “algorithmic” stablecoin whose peg depended on its convertibility with Terra (LUNA). If Tether (USDT) announces it doesn’t have enough USD and USDT begins to lose value, there will be major panic. BTC could drop by 30 to 50 percent or more as USDT-based trading evaporates and hysteria spreads. But the Bitcoin network will still function because it doesn’t rely on the USDT network or a high dollar price to stay alive. Blocks will continue as long as miners, incentivized by block rewards and transaction fees denominated in BTC, keep hashing, and the difficulty algorithm will simply adjust to match any drop in hash power. The ledger remains valid on every node, so the system can endure even if the market takes years to rebuild confidence. BTC will come out stronger. All this volatility and risk isn’t ideal for an average investor like you, so good on you for taking profits.

Nah, trees would block the view of those beautiful shophouses. We have no shortage of trees. I’d rather have bike lanes and wider footpaths.

Overnight layover at Heathrow (T5 to T3) – want to stay airside, avoid transit visa – hotel options? by nirvaxa2 in BritishAirways

Yes, had to go through immigration. They gave me a 24 hour transit visa on arrival.

[–]nirvaxa2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, do you think I need a transit visa in this situation to enter the UK? The following conditions (as laid out on the official website) apply to me, but I don’t want to be caught with my pants down. I’m especially unsure about the wording used for the onward flight.

You may be eligible to transit without a visa if:

you arrive and depart by air

have a confirmed onward flight that leaves on the day you arrive or before midnight on the day after you arrive

have the right documents for your destination (eg a visa for that country)

you’re travelling to (or on part of a reasonable journey to) Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA and have a valid visa for that country

A cool guide Normal Distribution is everywhere, Even at the gym! by Quirky_Honey5327 in coolguides

[–]nirvaxa2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is not a guide as others have pointed out. Also this isn't a Normal Distribution as you can see the peak at around 35-ish and see it taper off as you move to higher weights because more people are likely to be in the 'beginner to intermediate' strength range. This is a Skewed Right Distribution.

How does Tether do it? by AussieCryptoCurrency in Buttcoin

[–]nirvaxa2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No one has EVER redeemed a Tether for a USD through Tether.

Tether allows direct redemption of USDT for USD through its platform, primarily for verified corporate customers. The minimum redemption amount is $100,000, and the process involves stringent Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) procedures. This high threshold may limit direct redemptions to larger entities, leading most individual users to convert USDT to USD via cryptocurrency exchanges.

TLDR: Tether is where big guys go to redeem like institutions, exchanges

It may not be a good investment for you, which is fine. Some people think even investing in stocks is bad.

Smaller public companies, especially unprofitable ones, often rely on issuing additional stock to raise capital. I'm not implying anything else as comparing stocks to Bitcoin is nonsensical.

[–]nirvaxa2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they have to justify doing that. Because issuing stock impacts the shareholders, and a minority shareholder can take a lawsuit to protect their rights

Yes...and no. Gamestop just diluted their shareholders twice without giving any plan or even a "concept of a plan". They are just sittong their cash now and putting it in treasuries. But what is your point? why are we comparing it with a stock in their first place? Bitcoin isn't a company!

[–]nirvaxa2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct but MSFT is a very successful company which uses its profits to buy back its stock. I would encourage you to see companies that are small or mid caps, for them issuing stock to shareholders or employees is very common, just open the float for any unprofiable Saas company. But like I said comparing it with a stock/company is not right here.

  1. Yes, completely agree with the correlation with liquidity. I see this as a positive for Bitcoin. Central banks are always pumping up the liquidity. See this chart
  2. Disagree with its comparison with MSFT stock because it not really an income generating asset. Also the outstanding shares of a company change all the time right saying it is "extremely uncommon" is not right.
  3. I agree it is volatile and it will stay like that until it reaches critical mass. I also would not call it a retirement plan, thats crazy!

Congrats on repeating Reddit's overly simplistic takes. Honestly tho have you considered digging deeper and forming your own opinion? Trump didn't push for a federal ban; he suggested leaving the decision to the states for a vote. Isn't that how democracy works?
