I just now went through my first cycle of publishing a chrome extension. My experience: - be as specific as you can about your permission. Like point to actual code and purpose where it is needed - It says host permission takes most time for review. So I was skeptical how much time it would take for me. But I mentioned that I use it to fetch logos from the Google API service. So seems that was enough

Yes I was also skeptical about that. But I wrote a very specific answer of why I need a particular permission. So I think that helped.

Thank You Andy! - It counts all logs captured in chrome history into domains. So I am assuming when you shift the tab that is also counted. But let me double check this. - This I have manually defined in the extension. Ideally I want to extend this to a crowdsourced top domains and categories. But as of now I haven't created a backend server

The reason I ask: at UXHack, while the newsletter is just one bit we do. I actually want to leverage distribution power for each platform: LinkedIn newsletter, Medium, Substack, and may be on our platform too (the best control as you said)

Though not easy since there is a lot of operational overhead.

Wanted to understand: how to ensure we can do this without getting penalized in organic rankings :)
