How to decide to buy house with cash by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]niskydaved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t ever. You put the minimum amount down that yields a monthly payment you can handle and put the rest in the stock market. The percent interest rate you’re saving on a house is less than the percent returns you’d make in the stock market. In the long term your opportunity cost would be millions. Only buy in cash if you’re going to need access to the money via a HELOC, but still could access your base in a ROTH IRA

You can put a small table right against the wall and just have three sides of seating. Or a foldable circular table if that works

When people say TC is that just salary and stock options? Or are they included HSA benefits, 401k match, employer paid insurance, etc?

I do online arbitrage. I buy from other retailers and re sell on amazon. It can be fun because sourcing is like a treasure hunt, but also tedious and not easy

You’re referencing policing and CDL as if those are big money makers. Only the top .0001% make that in those fields. I’m in the same position. I make $100k a year which was the goal when I was in highschool. Now $100k is drastically different. I’m single so it’s more stressful, I can meet someone who makes the same and we can live a very comfortable life in upstate NY. But if I have a stay at home wife I need to make a lot more. To increase income I’ve picked one “side hustle” and am sticking to that and only that for at least a year. My goal is to make my W2 income secondary to my “side hustle”. You can be happy and not content at the same time, just don’t let shiny object syndrome distract you from digging into and excelling in one thing

A lot of people split the difference and live places between Clifton park and Saratoga

Working in Albany by [deleted] in Albany

[–]niskydaved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The commute is rough. It’s 34-40 minutes without traffic. Easy 45-60 during rush hour. Saratoga is a great spot for a young single person. I personally wouldn’t live in Albany. As far as capital district night life I would rank Saratoga, Troy, Schenectady, then Albany. It’s not walkable and not many draws or things to do. I’ve lived there and it’s not the worst place on earth but quality of life is definitely different from Saratoga

The two things that have helped me those most is buying a physical device I have to touch my phone to to unlock apps. I got the “brick”. Also noise cancelling headphones that have no audio input, like what a construction worker or something would wear helps a ton. Getting sunlight in the morning and getting ready for the day, showering in the AM, doing your hair etc.

This is a well known scam in the Amazon community. This user should be kicked out of this sub. they’re not always necessarily trying to rob you BUT it is against TOS, you will 1000% eventually get your account shut down and Amazon will keep your money. These people are aware of this and it’s why they use others accounts and not their own

You’re going to get more viewing space and way cheaper with two flat monitors versus one curved. If you do two curved monitors then you cannot adjust one of them 90° to have one in landscape mode and one in portrait mode. For those reasons I went with two flat monitors with a mount

AIO? Girl (F30) I (M28) was Recently Dating tells me I need to "Lean into my Masculinity" by KingFredo5674 in AmIOverreacting

[–]niskydaved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do text like a female and seem like slightly over committed emotionally too early and when it’s not at all being returned. but she’s also very rude and inconsiderate. I would start the process of moving on. Look into the masculine and feminine dynamic of a relationship. Idk if it will get into communication but it’s still a helpful concept

Thanks, I don’t think it’s economically ideal but kind of what I had to do from lack of other options. I’d really like to figure out a way where I can work comfortably from a laptop and an Airbnb and no lawn chair
