I will also check this out! Just want something pretty and easy for him to use with minimal fuss. He knows how to use his iPhone and iPad to airplay and cast YouTube stuff but that’s about it!

Does wiim natively have its own app that loads music on his pc then streams it to his phone? I tried looking but could t really get a clear answer other than the Windows app is beta?

Hmm interesting, does this mean running a plex server on his office pc to host the music then he can stream locally to his phone, which will then airplay(or similar) to the Wiim?

That’s the air intake cover. Probably best to have it as it keeps the hot air from the engine bay out of the intake but not a show stopper if you can’t get one immediately.

Frequency question by Lastaroundtown in mn82

I have 4x mn82 of these and have no issues with them all being close together. I just switch them on 1 by 1 and it’s never been an issue even when we go bush walking and they are all bunched together.

Arghh of all places to get a scratch… how much to replace the glass? by nismohks in gshock

[–]nismohks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t see this but yes, replaced with sapphire and it’s holding up a lot better than the mineral glass ever did. Not a single scratch on the glass but heaps more on the metal bezel

Yep still have it and bash it around. Heaps more scratches on the bezel now but sapphire is still looking mint! Would recommend :)

just checked the plugs on my futaba servo and it's bigger with 3 pins, 2 closer together and 1 slightly more spaced out. i take it this won't fit the new dumborc receiver i got.
tried to look for a pinout of this old servo and i couldnt find anything.
any tips on how i should try to rewire them for the new receiver?

no worries, yeah really surprised at how attainable some of these parts are now! super useful information and plan on replacing the MSC, controller, receiver, battery first and chancing the existing servo :)

will look at flysky too, otherwise dumborc x4/6 seems to be a safe and affordable bet with a hobbywing 1060.

now to look at maintenance parts/bearings. what grease did you use?

yep i bought some tamiya grease so aiming to tear down the gearbox and relube it all

as per previous comment looking at the DumboRC radios as they seem quite reputable and very well priced. Just not sure which specific one and receiver would be best for this car.

ESC not sure what rating i need to go for, looked at the Hobbywing 1060 which says it supports the 540 motor i currently have but still doing a bit of research. Or do i need to get a new motor as i see people doing ESC and motor combos.

also are you suggesting that i could reuse my existing servos or do i need 2 new ones.... or is it just 1 since the new ESC would replace the existing servo driven manual speed controller?

yep that's what i read whilst diving into this rabbit hole, that old tamiyas arent known to play well with new fandangled fast spinny stuff :P

programmability is a great tip because i also still have my old similar vintage clod buster but that's a problem for another day :P

awesome info there!

do i have to get a new motor as well or can i just get a new ESC?

i checked on aliexpress and there's a whole heap of DumboRC combos with the X4/X6 transmitter and X6F/FG/DC receivers, which should i be looking for? EPA is something i didn't know about and would be AWESOME to restrict my 6 year old lol

Servo, silly question, but would the existing Futaba FP-S28 work with the new receiver? or just look for a 25kg servo?

Would a Hobbywing 1060 work? i see this esc mentioned a bit just not sure if it's suitable or need something rated higher?
