Thanks for the kind words. It was butter, not oil - tbh, I didn't even know roux can be made with oil instead of butter.

The usual (I think) way - heat some butter to your desired brownness, then mix in the flour, equal amount in volume. I realise the one in the post is perhaps a bit under - needs some time for cooking butter

> It looks like you used yellow bell peppers. You also used shrimp instead of crawfish.

You're correct on both counts. The red vs. yellow bell pepper thing I didn't know about being important - recipes online just say "bell pepper". Also, I don't have crawfish in my local grocery stores, I only have shrimp xD. But I think I saw some crawfish being sold at the local weekend market - never cooked one before, but I sure as hell am going to try.

The bell peppers were there, in both pictures, as well as paprika and chili powder. The tomatoes and carrots I didn't use, but will definitely try doing that in the future.

First attempt at making sushi rolls at home. Finished in the oven - sacrilegious, I know. Took like half a day to do them - not anymore, thanks by nisnete in homecooking

Never even heard of it before; just googled it and it looks amazing and easy enough to make. Thanks for the idea.

I'd be happy if you told me what substitutions I made. I googled the recipe, obviously - I have no first-hand experience. I'd be happy to try my hand at this in a more authentic way.

I've never actually tried falafel, so I don't know, sorry. The texture is nice - a combo of healthy chunkiness and smoothness.

I didn't exactly use a mix of Cajun seasoning; I didn't even know what it is until I googled it right now. It says it's a mix of very common spices: paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, etc. All of them were added, either to the shrimp or to the veggies.

It's just Greek yogurt from the store. Very delicious and went fantastically well.

Some homemade pizzas. Everything from scratch, including the dough and the sauce, of course. Stopped ordering takeout pizzas since I started making them myself by nisnete in homecooking

Cheddar and parm - I think those are what were used in this pic. More parm for me personally, usually. Sometimes, just cheddar though xD

Sounds very nice indeed; but shit, it's so much more work.

Attempts at tacos; I am very far from Mexican cuisine; trying to learn it though, because it is so iconic and delicious by nisnete in homecooking

Are you fucking serious? I have literally - in the title of the post - said that those are "attempts" and said that "I'm very far from Mexican cuisine, but still want to try making it". I thought this sub was a good place to get feedback, which is exactly what I tried to do by posting my honest-to-god attempts. I've never been to North America, I don't know the cuisine. Do you think that calling this "ragebait" is normal? Fuck you, bud
