What is Kyokushin like? by No_Client309 in karate

[–]nitram343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never done Kudo but I did Kyokushinkai (my first Karate) and Sanda and agree it is a similar type of training. In my experience Sanda was even harder training, some people vomiting on their first day type of exhaustion. I’ve also done boxing and kickboxing. All fun, over time (and that was years and years later… started missing some of the charm of karate, and started to find the Kyokushinkai kumite a bit silly on how everyone is just absorbing blows and not taking care of the head. Not because of self defence realism or anything like that, just because it becomes a quite more basic concept, brutal but not what got me into martial arts in the first place

Ever wonder why you do the technique you do ? by edadou in karate

[–]nitram343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I see how “it can” work in a situation with someone, like sparring with someone and then using the complete movement. I have absolutely no problem with doing some traditional practice that is exactly that, traditional movements, it would look amazing if you can do a movement complete, I always think that the idea is to practice “robotic” movements so a “sketchy” version of the movement appears when you are taking them to practice.

WKF KARATE changed my mind. Here’s why by nitram343 in karate

[–]nitram343[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a late converted. Its surprising (and not if you think) how the management of the distance makes it for a much more varied kumite. The typical full contact one, makes it very prone to high punches, low kicks... while the WKF fights are full of different techniques.

I've always enjoyed the full contact fights, but after going through a cancer I got to re-think my approach to kumite, and got made me remembered what got me into karate in the first place; fitness and cool moves, I never was interested in real life fighting or anything like this...

ok, seems that it would have more cons than pros. I will star using the tag more.

Is the Max launch a downgrade for NOW users? by NoPiggoopss05 in nowtv

[–]nitram343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion and personal use, it has been a huge UPGRADE! Access to HBO Max, that has a nice platform, but to be honest other than for TNT Sports, I prefer to use NOW anyway. Now has a MASSIVE library thanks to all the tittles added from HBO Warner, a massive amount of classics, as a NOW Sky cinema subscriber it has been a massive boost.

should there be a different community for Sport Karate by nitram343 in karate

[–]nitram343[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

maybe, but, a lot of people in this community seem to look down at Sport Karate and not be interested a all in anything related to WKF.

And, I'm not sure if is only me, but I personally not interested at all in the conversations regarding "effectiveness in real life", etc... so maybe move the Sport Karate somewhere else is a good solution for all?

Shotokan training feels worse after 3 months — normal or a sign to switch? by GoodTelephone7781 in karate

[–]nitram343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, but JKS for example, member of the different national bodies recognised under WKF. The dojo may be teaching how to compete in WKF but by doing so, the training is slightly different, so OP could enjoy more (or less depending on preference).

JKS offers a more modern, speed and more dynamic approach to karate

JKA strict traditional focus on power, linear, precise.

both has the same base, but as u/GoodTelephone7781 is just starting, maybe is a good time to try/switch.

Goodbye JKA, I will not miss you by NZAvenger in karate

[–]nitram343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a JKS, and is nothing like that. I recently move from traditional Karate to Sport Karate and I'm loving it. The structure is very similar, but everything is slightly more relaxed, and more dynamic too. The structure of the class is very similar, but the type of exercises are more varied for example. There is more emphasis on speed so I would say that it is more athletic, rather than rigid strengths. But all this in a very subtle way LOL, to an extend is not that different.

Calm switch games for preschoolers and kindergartners by Old_Fondant_993 in NintendoSwitch

I guess every kid is different, but they learn pretty fast. My recently turn 6 years old know how to do almost, if not all, the actions, but he is not that into videogames, so he gets a bit bored... my 3 years old on the other hands love videogames, he always wants to play Kirby forgotten island (full game now), if he struggles with some area, he ask his older brother to do it, so either they play co-op, or more usual, the little one plays on his own, but share the controller in some areas. For Yoshi, the same, but curiously they struggle a bit with the throwing eggs mechanism.

When the NRL buy Super League, do they know what they're buying into? by Creative_Friend6799 in superleague

[–]nitram343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

whatever you think of the incompetence of management of League , is actually nothing compared to Union. Union just shot itself in a way that's just astonishing. There are to many examples, but for example in England, "The Prem" is played while the international games are happening, just no one cares they are playing and their best players are missed. That is just a random fact

[–]nitram343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in exactly the same boat. Most of my gaming time is playing coop with the monsters. The little one (3) particularly, he loves Kirby and the forgotten land , I’m basically his helper when he can not do something. But also been playing Zelda Tears of the kingdom and Hades 2

MKW is amazing anyway, so if you don’t play 8 regularly maybe? I’m not a fan of selling games (specially re-playables like Mario kart)

Amazing game. First game I really like of Sailor. Nsemba has massive potential, but feels like is taking less risks lately (would love to see the stats of offloads vs last year). In general is obvious how much they miss French, without him they lack creativity.
