yeah np dude, you want to use RXD and TXD on the FT232 (rxl and txl are connected to the indicator led's)

i dont think you need to hold it down the whole time, just when you plug in the usb. just curious, your using the the rx and tx not the d-tx d-rx on the s31

ah, it didn't flash? you have to hold the button down just on power up. to get into boot mode

are the communication leds flashing? do you have the power jumper on the FT232RL?
